Hi, I am new here and thrilled to find this site!

I am looking for guidance on choosing a lift/assist harness for my senior dog, Peanut. She is a 13 year old Lab/Border Collie mix, 70 lbs.

Much of her right hip joint has eroded. She still has 4 legs, and has lots of pain (we have her on Rimadyl). She is very unsteady on her legs. We also have two puppies (14 months and 7 months) who can easily tip her over.

Sometimes she will lay or slide down on hard surface, and I need to pick up her rear end. But I also have a bad back, so I am looking for a harness that is lightweight with longer handles so I can lift her rear without stooping over myself.

We live in Texas, so it's hot here. She has pretty thick fur, too. It would be nice to also have something cool and soft that she can wear all the time.

All suggestions welcomed!

Best Harnesses for Three-Legged Dogs

Which harness is right for my dog?

The Ruffwear Web Master is the most popular mobility harness we recommend for most dogs.

For larger/heavier dogs requiring more assistance we recommend the AST Get A Grip.

Hope this helps! Please keep us posted

Thank you, yes I have been to the site. But since it is mostly directed at tripawds, thought I would ask for more specific guidance, given that my own back gets into the equation!

Hmmm. The Webmaster is more lightweight than the Get-a-Grip, but the Get-a-Grip has handles and a shoulder strap you can purchase separately. Unfortunately I can't think of one that has both of those features, although you may be able to rig something up with the Doubleback harness , which has handles on both the front and rear ends.
