We have a very active 9 month old puppy who had her right fore leg removed after a very bad break. We live in Fiji, so Vet services and aftercare products are nil.
Has anybody had any luck making a cover to protect a stump?

So it sounds to me like you have quite a bit of stump left over? Is the area not healing or getting banged up when you run around? Can you post a photo so we can see you? Here are instructions for adding images . Let us know if you'd like help OK?
Many people have asked this question through the years. It's tricky to cover up a stump, and coming up with something in a hot climate like yours would be especially tricky 'cause I'll bet you wouldn't want to wear it all the time.

In short, the best thing to do is get rid of the remaining stump so that there is no risk of abrasion. I know that may be tough where you are. So really the best thing you can do right now is to manage her activity so she doesn't overdo things to the point of her stump getting battered. Usually when a stump gets battered it's because a dog is going bonkers playing all day without any kind of breaks.
I know that is so hard to manage a Tripawd puppy! You can also try fitting a t-shirt to her size and see how that goes, but again, it may be though.

Thank you Jerry! We will send pics as soon as possible. You are right, the challenges: puppy vigor, high heat, farm life.
Mili is a rescue pup from Animals Fiji and even with three legs has a better life than most dogs in Fiji. We American owners spoil our dogs compared to most here.
We are trying to figure out a cup or bra style protector to save her when she wipes out. She is very active and finds that running is easier than walking, lol. Down side is occasional faceplants.
Any ideas on homemade protection would be great as further operations are not very easy to work out where we are.

I think the problem you will have is getting something that will stay on a rambunctious puppy! There is a company called DogLeggs here that make custom products for dogs. They are a bit pricey (IMHO) and you may not be able to order from where you are without large additional costs (they do ship outside the US). But- I'm thinking if you look at what they offer it might help you design a DIY version that will work for your girl.

Also- here are some blog posts on elbow hygromas. Not exactly what you are dealing with but there may be something that gives you ideas.
Pictures will help- the length of the stump might give us some other ideas.
