Hi i am new to this site.

My staffy was involved in a RTA on 29th November 2013, the witness said that he was hit on the rear end at about 50-60 in a 30 and the driver failed to stop, but later returned to collect the bits of their car when no one was around (i am so angry!!! ).

The main reason i am writing this is that on the friday he was able to walk on three legs pulling his left leg behind him at home and at vets when assessed.

He was at the vets all weekend and on monday i was given the option of tring to pin it 50/50 chance it would work providing there was enough whole femur to mend or immediate amputation. I opted for pinning and if this didnt work then amputation, unfortunately it had to be amputated as so smashed.

After the procedure he is not putting full weight onto his right hind leg and is curing his paw so is unable to come home, the vet said he is not to hopefull for him however they have xrayed his back and cant see any spinal damage.

He has been on a ketamin and Morphine drip up until Thursday.

I am heart broken sadand hoping it will right its self, has any body else come across this situation

Many Thanks for reading.

Amy

Welcome to Tripawds, your future posts will not have to wait for moderation.

I'm so sorry about your boy's accident- what is his name?

My experience with knuckling paws is in my quad pug who has neurological issues.  He is still on ketamine and morphine? That is a pretty powerful drug combo- could the knuckling be due to the meds? I think they both suppress the nervous system.

Hopefully another member will have some suggestions, you could also post in the 'Ask a Vet' forum.
