Let's just say ... Jasper has also "expressed herself" on my lap before ... it is not something I ever want to experience (again) but I let the vets do it ... I am sure I could learn but that is an added level to our relationship that i am not willing to go to. 🙂

Also, a groomer told me that it is preferable to have a vet do it so there is no injury or damage done. Not sure what that mean but I throw that out there since I asked when I bathed her if they would do that and clip her nails.

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

So not really poop related but I didn't want to make another thread clown

We ended up back at the vet because I wasn't seeing much improvement - thankfully, an x-ray of her back and hips didn't show anything.

He doesn't think she is showing pain; she let him lift her and move her around for the x-ray. She doesn't show pain when I pick her up either.

The vet's diagnosis was age and fatigue.  Sigh.  He thinks the restlessness at bedtime is because she is anxious due to age and she's starting to get cataracts; obviously not being able to see as well would make her more nervous.

I also blame myself (I know, I know) because I hurt my knee and we were not able to do physical therapy as much at home (plus, one of the recommended exercises she was not really able to do).  We were also spending a lot of time together, making her separation anxiety worse when we're not.

For instance, I took her to work for two days in a row but not today - when I came home, she was having a lot of trouble getting around because she paces and worries.  I have her gated in the living room with pee pads (which she has used) so she's not stressed because she has to go, she's stressed because I'm not home.

I just feel like she can't get better because inevitably she has to be alone; I worry that taking her to work every day will only make the separation anxiety that much worse when we're not together.

I'm going to contact the physical therapist about an appt for a new plan for at-home work and to get her back in to use the water treadmill.  I can only get her there once/month so I hope it helps.

Thanks for listening everyone.  If anyone's had this kind of thing (single limb weakness due to overuse due to stress that I can't control) I'd love to have tips, anything...I'm sure my girl is feeling my stress as well.

She's still perfect though heart

I heard a program about a woman who used medical marijuana for her anxious dog:

There may be a holistic vet or a medical marijuana shop in your area who can help. If you go this route it's really important to find a product that is low in THC so your dog doesn't get stoned.

I agree with you that your dog may feed off your stress. I know I had to remove myself from the room when my cat was going nutty from the pain meds during her amputation recovery.

Hugs to you and your perfect pup,

Kerren and Tripawd Kitty Mona
