Hi Joe, it's wonderful to read how you and Franklin enjoyed an outdoor summer! Of course the best medicine for him is to be out about with you.
One thought came to mind, you mentioned he's a long haired dog. I'm not sure how thick his coat is but in mild and warm weather our thick coated and long haired dogs have always loved having a good hair cut. It maybe worth considering next summer - they feel much lighter and cooler and enjoy the warm weather a lot more especially when they health problems.
