Well here we are approximately 3 weeks post op. Flyball starts today and we are going. I am terrified he still is really tender at the incision site but he is active and pretty much back to normal. The vet cleared him for flyball, so I guess we just take it easy tonight (as thats super easy with a young jack russell terrier right????), and see how he does. He loves flyball and his last class was the day before his surgery.
I will try to remember to take photos or video, that being said I am handling 2 dogs at flyball training. The puppy (4 months old and no he does not do the jumps yet) and Quixote. I cant believe we arent even at a month and already hes up and ready to take on the world again (unless its a german shepherd then we are terrified lol)
Anxious to hear how the flyball went!

Quixote had one spill where he landed on his incision and he yelped but he is fine and he went right back to it.

That's really cool! We've never had a flyball Tripawd member!
P.S. You can tell Quixote that I yelp when I fall too, and I don't have an incision like that!

Lainamaina> I was told that in order to do agility the dog has to have at least some of the leg remaining. Quixote can not do agility which is unfair. He can do flyball which he enjoys so we will continue with that.
We have 2 weeks off flyball now because we are going on a trip to visit family and will miss a class. When we come back I will drag my husband to class too so he can photograph it for me.
Is that just a rule with the facility that you're at? It doesn't seem like something that could really be enforced unless it's at competitions.
Either way, Champ has a tiny bit of femur left so it wouldn't be an issue. I'd be more worried about him slipping off of equipment or stressing his joints.
Here is a post from a blog from another tripawd who does flyball: http://kesstheb.....0/flyball/ I think Kess is the second border collie running before the lab. She seems to propel herself with her tail.
Soon Quixote will be as fast as Kess. GO Quixote GOWhat fun!
Kerren and Tripawd Mona
KERREN AND MONA!! Thanks so much for the video post!!! Brought tears to me eyes!! What a GREAT "sport"! I didn't really understand how it was "played" until I saw this. In addition to the sweet tripawd, there seemed ro be an "elderly" black lab who was having a blast roo!
Such fun!!
