Our Nico is 3 months post-op and has had good days and bad, but the issue that has concerned us lately is his remaining right rear leg goes dead on him in the evenings after he lays for a couple hours.  We massage it prior to his rising to get to his bedroom, but the leg slides outward and he drags himself to his bed, unless and more often that not, I lift his rear quarters to take the weight off his leg.  Originally the vet thought he may have strained a muscle in the remaining leg.  We are past the healing stage of that diagnosis.  After a night of sleep, he is okay.  He will take his daily 1/4 walk and then come back and lay on his back deck pillow.  Just worried that the cancer may have metastasis.

Hi Nico and family, welcome! Your future posts won't need to wait for approval so post away.

Sorry to hear about the leg issue. I'm glad your vet looked at it. What is the vet's plan for treatment? If there isn't one, ask for a referral to a specialist. It could be an orthopedic issue or a neurologic issue. Your vet would be the best way to decide which specialty is more suited for the symptoms.

Odds are it's not metastasis, this doesn't sound like any way that mets present in another bone (I'm assuming he was diagnosed with bone cancer?).

It does sound like he is giving pain signals though, so it's important to get this checked out as quickly as possible.

I hope this helps. Let us know what you discover, I'm curious to find out. And give him extra smooches from us. He's so lucky to have such loving parents like you!

Yeah, ditto Jerry.  Of you cam get a consult  with a VERTIFIED REHABILITATION  SPECIALIST,  you will most likely  have the answers, as well as the proper therapies  to help.

Just as aside, continue  to ,massage all up and down hos spine, his neck, his shoulder.  Any sign of tension?  Also, when this happens, try pinching g hos toes...try buckling iss paw under him....any "pull back" reaction?

Very sweet avatar picture.  We would love to see more.

Update when you can.

Hugs
