Anyway, there's a bunch of excess strapping that I will need to cut off, as soon as I get the nerve. Right now, I'm using bits of velcro tape to keep it from dangling all over the place.

Boomie's leg was amputated due to osteosarcoma on May 15, 2008. He enjoyed over two and a half years of life after that, one day at a time. He died on Feb. 21, 2011.

Angel Jake and Wolfie's Mom
Jake, 10yr old golden retriever (fractured his front right leg on 9/1, bone biopsy revealed osteosarcoma on 9/10, amputation on 9/17) and his family Marguerite, Jacques and Wolfie, 5yr old german shepherd and the newest addition to the family, Nala, a 7mth old Bengal mix kittie. Jake lost his battle on 11/9/2009, almost 8 weeks after his surgery. We will never forget our sweet golden angel… http://jakesjou.....ipawds.com ….. CANCER SUCKS!

I love the butterfly. Maybe a tarantula next time? It looks like you have gotten a decent fit with the harness. If you loosen the rear return straps a bit you can shorten the distance between the front and rear sections of the harness. This will bring the rear section forward and for Fortis at least it helps keep it from sliding off.
I'm still tweaking and adjusting the straps. So far, though, it's been staying on OK. Which one is the "rear return" strap? The one that the butterfly's wing is touching?
And yes, it's a real butterfly photo. Flying right where it can be of the most use, courtesty of Photoshop!

Yes, it is the two straps that come up from underneath Boomie's belly and clip to the rear of the harness. For the rear section of the harness to be moved farther forward these will need to first be loosened and then you will probably need to readjust the pelvic pad. I just remove the pelvic pad while making adjustments and then put it back on when I'm done. (You can use the harness without the pelvic pad being in place by the way) You can read an old post of my where I accidently had the pad over fortis "butterfly" and well lets just say he was plugged up. 
It sounds like your doing a great job. Boomie is very lucky to have such a loving pawrent.

Thanks for the tip, Brett. I'll give it a try. I did read the thread about Fortis' trouble in that department. Amazing that the rear harness can be made to fit so snug that it will literally hold in his poop for so long (poor boy). Thank goodness you figured out the problem before he exploded!
I enjoyed seeing your pictures of Fortis in the water. Do you have a blog for him, or perhaps his bio somewhere on this site?

Butterfly Butt Boomer! 
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
