All About Dog Day has now become All About Dog three day weekend.  Today's plan - baths.  We are going to do it in the backyard, with the hose connected inside for temperature control.  Would love any suggestions - I am a little worried about Otis' stamina.  (For any who don't know, Otis is a 100 pound front leg amputee)(who smells really bad).

Otis - 106 pound lab/Dane mix, lost his right front leg to osteosarcoma on Febuary 9, 2016.  Four rounds of carboplatin completed in April, 2016.  Lung mets August 25, 2016.  Said goodbye too soon on September 4, 2016.   Lost his adopted sister, Tess, suddenly on October 9, 2016. likely due to hemangiosarcoma.

Wherever they are, they are together.

Ohh how fun! I think he'll really enjoy getting the stink off of him. As long as you have warm water and he's not on a slipper surface he should be fine. Dry his paws good before he goes inside the house so he doesn't slip. And take photos!

I have no advice since I pay someone else to bathe my maniacs for me!  lol  She takes all 3 of them on the same day and has a whole grooming set up in her basement.

Have fun!

Murphy had his right front leg amputated due to histiocytic sarcoma at 7 years old. He survived 4 years, 2 months & 1 week, only to be taken by hemangiosarcoma at 11 1/2 years 6/12/17

Because of his allergies, Ollie has a bath every week. Most of the time he loads into the tub fairly easily, with the occasional balk. I've found that if I slick him down and then let him do his first shake with the towel over him, he dries a lot easier.

Your dog weekend sounds like loads of fun, both for the dogs and for you.

Kathi and the Turbotail April Angel...and the Labradork

Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!

UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!

Baths were a great success.  Otis leaned his weight against me most of the bath, and I can tell he was really tired at the end, but we're all clean and shiny.  Nothing is nicer than cuddling with a dog whose coat is soft, silky and smells good.  I used Buddy Wash - all of the ingredients are natural, herbs and a coconut base.  Lathered well and they smell wonderful!

They did give me a bit of "stink eye," but I have to think they must be happier without smelling vet all of the time, and the smell of pain and fear which must have lingered in his coat.
