For those of you with a senior dog who are in the middle of panic after the initial surgery, seeing your baby struggle to move and not even being able to hold their head up without support... please take heart. Our girlie was in an absolute mess. Not only could she move on her own, she could not even drink water without us supporting her head because of her leg/shoulderblade being removed. She could not stand. She could not potty on her own. She needed a two-person support for her front and rear.
14 days later? Not only is her head perfectly fine and she can stand up with just a bit of help, but she's trotting!!!! With this girl, not even the sky is a limit.

Yes, thank you for that inspiration. I don’t even know if amputation is an option yet, but I’m already anticipating having to make the decision. I literally cannot fathom doing it. It absolutely breaks my heart to send her into surgery, scared, and to have her wake up without a limb. For us, at least people can explain why something is happening. I just can’t get it out of my head that she would think that someone hurt her intentionally. She is such a gentle soul. She has no idea how big she is. She terrified of thunder. And she’s probably not suffered the sensation of pain more than a handful of times in her entire life.
At times, what she is going through feels as if it is killing me.
