Hey everyone! So just a little update, Jilly has been doing really! She's finally getting back to her old self and actually ran to the door and barked at the mailman! I never thought I would see the day when I almost cried because she barked at the mailman! She's just seemed so depressed or lazy lately so it was starting to worry me. She also could have been feeding off of my depression over this whole thing. Anywho! I spent all of our homeschooling funds for the kids curriculum next year on food and supplements (won't be too bad. our kids are only 5 and 6 (almost 7) so I can use cheap books and free resources)! They are starting to arrive and last night I read something about someone saying they give their dog different supplements at different times of the days so they don't cancel out each other or something like that. So here is what I bought and would love any help! I know I went over board a little bit but wanted to get everything I could!

And now I'm looking into Canna Pet but hoping to find something cheaper.
And I'm also wondering if anyone kept their dogs on NSAIDS? She is completely off of everything other than glucosamine chondroitin msm. The holistic vet said she preferred her to not be taking the previcox anymore if she didn't need it. And she hasn't had it since Thursday (when she finished all of her meds from the amputation). But what if I don't know if she needs it?
Also, do any of the above supplements need to be taken without food? I just want to make sure she gets the most out of all of the products.

Hello ! you will have to organize a "protocol". K-9 Immunity Plus can be given without food. My pup has six chews a day, three in the morning and three in the afternoon. The Artemisinin has to be given at least 4 hours apart from any food with iron, and the ideal time to administer it is before bedtime. Most dogs take it around 11pm. Check Charley the chocolate lab's protocol to see how his mom administers the arte and other supplements.

Our awesome Golden Boy was diagnosed for OSA in April 2014 in the proximal humerus, front-leg amp on 05/20/2014. Finished chemo (Carbo6) on 07/10/2014. Ongoing treatment: acupuncture + K-9 Immunity Plus ( 3chews) and home-cooked no-grain diet. Stopped Apocaps because of liver issues. Liver issues: controlling altered enzymes with SAM-e and Milk Thistle. October 17: started having seizures. Taking fenobarbital for seizures. April 18: started prednisone.

There are a lot of supplements and yes, some can cancel eachother out, so you definitely want to give that holistic vet a call to help you determine the days/times to administer. Remember, that's why you pay the vet so don't hesitate to ask. You've spent some hard-earned money on some serious supplements, so you definitely want to get your money's worth by giving them appropriately, and a holistic vet can guide you on that. We would love to hear what the vet says too so please post an update when you talk.

I think I've just been taking her to a vet that makes me feel like I'm annoying him with questions for so long that I never think to go straight to the vet! And by him, I mean my old vet before the one who diagnosed and amputated! I'm gonna see if they have an email address so I don't have to try to write everything she says down! LOL Then I will reply here when I hear back from her.
