We lost our valiant Murphy this afternoon to an aggressive bone lesion that, had we done a bone biopsy, would most likely have turned out to be OSA. He had only been feeling poorly for about a week, although he had probably been hiding his pain from us pretty well. He was so painful this morning that we made the decision to let him go while he was still Murphy. He ran bravely for the Bridge, looking for his big buddy, Gus, who left us in January.

Please forgive me if I take a while getting back here.

Kathi

Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!

UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!

Kathi, this just knocked us over and we are stunned, just stunned. Our strong, funny, amazing miracle Murphy. I just can't believe it. I thought he would be with us for many, many years. This has got to be so hard for you and Garry. All of you. Murphy made so many friends everywhere, we all ache for this tremendous loss. I wish I knew what to say other than I am so, so sorry.

Take your time grieving. We understand. We will be here when you are ready. And we are going to miss your boy like nobody's business. He really had a shining spirit that touched us all, and it always will now that he's an angel.

NO WAY is all that comes to mind, it can't be true!

I am so sorry, cancer is such a sneaky bastard I can't believe it took Murph.  I will never eat a green bean with out thinking of Murphy and Gus...that's I lie, I will not ever eat a green bean, but when I give them to Obie I will think of your boys.

Take all the time you need, come here if it helps, don't if it doesn't.  You owe it to Murphy to take your time grieving.

You know the Tripawd Nation is here for you and is willing to help carry a bit of your pain.

Murphy and Gus are together again and will live forever in your heart, and so will always be by your side.

I keep coming back to this page in disbelieving what I'm seeing. As you can tell, the entire community has just been taken to their knees. I nave no words of comfort right now...there are none.

PLEASE use this number...I don't care what time itmis...use it!

I do know this, there will never, ever be another Murph! And there will never, ever be two human beings who were more devoted to that miraculous dog than you and Garry!! The obstacles her overcame are legendary around here. But none of that could have been possible with the love, devotion and care you two showed that boy!!

I just am sobbing so hard for you right now.

But there is one thought that came to me that made me smile. You talked about ho Murphy really didn't seem to be too upset when Gus went shockingly unexpectedly to the Bridge. When Murphy got to tne Bridge and saw Gus, although he was happy to see him, his thought bubble was..You again? I just spent the last couple of months peeing on every single bush, every tree, every blade of grass you used to pee on...and now I jave to do it all over again at the Bridge?"

Kathi, we all love Murphy soooo much! He's our dog too. The smiles ne brought to us, he and Gus both will never, ever fade. They will be pushed in the background for awhile now because our grief is so heavy and dark, but the light of these joyous memories will pish the dark away, ever so slowly, but surely.

We are here for you!! Let us carry you.

Wrapping you in hugs and love. I would do anything to take your pain away, but I am helpless. Just know how much Murphy touched our hearts...and our funny bones!

Oh Kathi, I am so, so sorry! I don't really even have the words! I am just so sorry you are going through this. Murphy will always be remembered here. His green beans and Artichokes. Know that we are here, but that we understand the grieving process totally. I pretty much had a time that I lurked and read, but could not bring myself to post anything. My heart is hurting for you and Garry. Just so not fair. Hugs from, Lori, Ty and Gang

TY GUY, Best Black Lab ever! Diagnosed  and had amp in January, 2014. Kicked MRSA's butt. Earned his angel wings on April 16, 2014. Run Free my boy and don't forget a shoe. !!!!! After staring at the screen in disbelief, I'm in shock. All I can do is shake my head as my eyes well up for your loss and the community's loss.

Harmony became a Tripawd on 10/21/14 (MCT). She left us way too soon on 11/1/14.

Kathi,

Like everyone else I was totally shocked to read that Murphy has left this earth for the Bridge.  I am so sorry that you and your family are facing a loss so soon after Gus.  I can't even imagine the pain in your heart.  Just know that I'll be keeping you in my thoughts through this difficult time.

I saw this last night and I couldn't even believe what I was reading. I still cannot. Utter shock and disbelief. My heart aches for you all. It's so not fair. I can't even fathom what you are going through... the pain ... Murphy was and always will be a role model, a hero, a warrior. I am soooo incredibly sorry for your loss.

I will never look at green beans, antlers, granny bumps the same way. I love you all so much and sending all the love and the world to you.

God April is quickly doing a repeat of 2014 - too many losses this month. Awful April. Just awful.

Jasper, my spirited Shelby and I send you love and prayers.

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
