After a very courageous three year battle with cancer, kidney and liver issues, Rusty is in a better place tonight. Because of his unfailing determination to overcome everything that life dealt him, we had a lot more time with him than we could have possibly hoped for. Throughout all of his battles, he never lost his zest for life and was always the happiest, friendliest and most loving companion anyone could hope for.
Words cannot express the love that we have for him and now we have an empty hole in our hearts that will heal in time, but he will always be there. He provided so much joy for my mother during her final years; hopefully they will be reunited and can again enjoy each other’s company. We want to thank all of his friends and supporters, as your love provided extra incentive for him to be so brave in his battles against impossible odds.
Chuck, Jan & Rusty
Rusty is a Labradoodle who was diagnosed with level 3 Fibrosarcoma on January 16th, 2010 and had his left hind leg amputated on January 25th, 2010 five days before his 18 month birthday. Please see Rusty's blog @rusty.tripawds.com. He is putting up one heck of a fight against this terrible disease.
Chuck and Ann, Although I'm new to this site, I'm of new to the depth of love one can share with our animal companions and the complete and utter devastion we feel when they crossover.
Your Rusty is such a handsome boy and clearly courageous and superhero brave! What a legacy.
Just want you to know love like that is eternal and nothing can separate that kind of union!!He knew ow much you loved him and carries that with him......just as his love for you stays here with you.
In our hearts, Sally and Happy Hannah
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
I am very sorry to hear of your loss. While getting three years from diagnosis is a great accomplishment, I'm sure it wasn't near enough time with your pup. My thoughts are with you and your family.
Adelaide is a young tripawd Husky, from an injury. Her amp was on 10/1/12. She has 4 sisters, Aissa (a senior border collie/chow), Maggie May (a puppy Great Pyrenees), Mathilde and Morrigan and 1 baby brother, Bagheera. We are all watched over by our angel Brendol, who was dx with OSA 1/30/13, amp on 2/6/13, and left us on 8/20/13.

I am so very sorry to hear of Rusty's passing. I do believe that Rusty is with his Grand-Dog-Mama tonight and they are happy to be reunited. Greg and I sometimes talk about our boys - Zeus and Merlin - being with their Granny and how she's probably patting them on the head and saying "Oh, Seuss and Meerlin, you're such good boys" She never did call them by the right names.
It is hard to lose our babies, especially after fighting so hard for them for so long. Many, many wishes for comfort and strength during this sad time.

Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11. A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

I signed on and the first thing I saw was Rusty's banner. I knew then that I would be reading sad news. I am so sorry to hear he has passed. He was such a brave strong boy, and fought so many difficult battles. Besides his awesome strength and will to fight and live, your love carried him through these years.
Jan & Chuck, I am so sorry you have lost your boy. But, it was such a pleasure and honor to finally be able to meet him and the two of you. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers tonight.

Chuck and Jan, I'm very sorry to hear this news, the Tripawds Nation is so sad tonight. Rusty has been such an inspawration for so many, and he's brought so many smiles to people when they were looking for hope. It's so hard to believe he is an angel dog now. While it's an amazing thing that he was able to have so much extra time despite his battles, I know that doesn't make things any easier.
It's clear how much you cared for him, he was so loved! What an honor it was to meet you all, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being a part of this community. Rusty's story will continue to shine and inspire many people for years to come.

The Bridge has gained an awesome little surfer dude. I'm sorry that Rusty's time with you has ended. I was just telling a friend about him the other day, how he still could surf on three.
Rusty was a true Tripawd Warrior and an inspiration to all who knew him.
Rusty lives on in your heart and so will always be by your side.

What a video of your boy! He was so smart and so fun of life! I loved how he'd balance and cruise on over to his toy, then happily claim his prize and relish in its fun. Oh, boy, Rusty! You were so loved and will be missed. I'm sorry for your loss. He fought VERY hard and beat SO many odds! Run free, swim fast, and get that toy, Rusty!
ACL tear in right hind leg 12/5/12 and scheduled ACL repair surgery 12/21/12. Pre-op xrays revealed osteosarcoma. Amputation 12/28/12. Chemo (carboplatin) started Jan 10, 2013 and ended on April 5, for a total of 5 doses. He handled carbo like a champ! No side effects. We started metronomic therapy at his third chemo and have been also doing some holistic treatments. He's a lively, playful 10 year old huskie-boarder collie and a very proud member of the Winter Warriors! Our love. Our funny little guy!
Wow 3 years, that's great! Surfin Rusty is fabulous! You have to feel good that you helped get him through those years and he was loved and happy. Great job to you!!! Your love for him will never be forgotten and you will meet again some day. I am sorry for your loss, I know how terrible it feels.
I am so very sorry for your loss. Rusty went through so much in his way to short time on this earth. He was very lucky to have such dedicated and loving pawrents, who took such great care of him. After I read you post, I scrolled down and saw the video of him in your pool. Through my tears of sadness, I was also laughing. What a HUGE personality Rusty had. He didn't let all the medical issues slow him down one bit. He just lived his life, and enjoyed every second of it. What an inspiration he is!
I know how painful it is to let go and say goodbye. Just know that Rusty appreciated everything you did for him and he knew he was loved. He is running free right now and is pain free. He is with your Mom right now and they are loving on each other. Know he is being taken care of and will forever be watching over you.

Rustyl lived a glorious life where everyday was a play day! You are to b honored for being a great pawparnt and being o connected to a very special soul with n incredible love of life! Dunking his head underwater......are you kidding? Riding the "surf board". to get his toy rather than exerting nearby swimming to get it??! Genius!!
Thank you for allowing us to be part of his light! Sally and Happy Hannah
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Chuck and Jan, I am sorry to see this. Rusty was way too young to get dealt this hand, but he certainly made the most of his time. He truly showed us how to Be More Dog . No concern about details, just busy with having fun and giving love. I've enjoyed following his adventures and have been impressed by your dedication to his care. I hope he lets you know he's ok and having fun still.

From abandoned puppy to Tripawd Warrior Dude, Dakota became one of the 2011 February Furballs due to STS. Our incredibly sweet friend lived with grace and dignity till he impulsively raced over the Bridge on 12-15-12.

I was so sad to read that Rustys journey has come to an end. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time.
