You weren't wrong about the tissues.....

That was definitely worth sharing. Thank you.

Magnum: 30th May 2002 to 5th May 2012. Lost her back left leg to osteosarcoma on 5th Sep 2011. Lung mets found on 20th Mar 2012 but it was bone mets in the hip that ended her brave battle. Magnum's motto - "Dream as if you'll live for ever, live as if you'll die today" (James Dean). Loyal, loving, courageous and spirited to the end. My beloved heart dog, see her memoirs from Rainbow Bridge ...... http://princess.....pawds.com/

OMG. That was just great. It will be a year in November that I lost my best friend to old age. Thank you for sharing.

Wow. *sniff* I had to upgrade from a tissue to a kitchen towel!

Liberty (Libby) was diagnosed with OSA on 1-22-13.  Right front amputation on 1-31-13. No IV Chemo. Metronomic Therapy started 2-19-13 along with supplements and some home cooking. Lungs clear until 1-06-14.  She's still her happy, hoppy, bossy self.  Living the dog life to the fullest and a proud Winter Warrior. :) RIP my Libby 4-21-03 to 3-19-14

Such a wonderful tribute to the bond between us and our dogs!

I should buy the man's book..."Going Home" by Jon Katz.

Read about our Hunter at http://superdog.....pawds.com/

7/27/2003 ~ 7/24/2013

Our Super Dog Hunter crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on a beautiful summer day in July, just 3 days shy of his 10th Birthday. He gave us everything since he was 8 weeks old.  Hunter was a 14 month warrior of OS.  We LOVE and MISS him every day.

Ooooh. How I wish every beloved animal could have that last perfect day. Sniff. Sniff.

I can so relate to this story.  My boyfriend got Cadence when he got back from Iraq.  Cadence helped him through his adjustment back to civilian life. The bond the two of them share is beyond love.   She then helped me when he was again deployed in Dec 2010 for a year to Afghanistan.  For the year she took care of me, protected me and loved me.  I am going to make sure we have our perfect day together, Steve has one with her, and then we will all three have one as a family.

Thank you for sharing that passage with all of us.

“Dogs are our link to paradise. They don't know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring--it was peace.” ― Milan Kundera

This makes me want to create an annual holiday, because it is true that we never really know how long we will get with our fur babies. I think I am going to designate a Doggie's Best Day to celebrate every year, maybe on Bert's ampuversary...
