It was one year ago today that I lost my sweet Mackenzie, my 8 1/2 year old golden retriever, to osteosarcoma. She was my world and my heart is still broken. I wanted to give a special thanks to Jim and Rene, and of course, Jerry, for being such an inspiration to this community and for creating such a wonderful support group to everyone here with Tripawds. Although I'm not on here as much as I'd like to be, I am forever thankful and grateful for the wonderful show of support and friendships that I've made over time. I'm not sure what I would have done without all of you and your kind words, understanding and love. One thing is for sure, we all have a special love for our pets and all understand and know how important they are to each and every one of us. It's so nice to be among a crowd that truly understands that depth of love.
So thank you Jim, Rene and Jerry for making this such a special place to be.
Kami & Angel Mackenzie
P.S. Here's a favorite video I made of Mackenzie doing her favorite thing - swimming. We love you and miss you Mackenzie!!

My sweet golden Mackenzie. She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2 although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home. She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009. She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes. I love you Mackenzie!
Kami, it's so hard to believe an entire year has passed since your beautiful girl left us. And I know it's even harder to be her Momma and mark that passing of time. That first year anniversary (or "heavenaversary" as our friend Genie once called it), seems to catch us by surprise and knock us off our feet, even though we know one day it will happen. Our hearts go out to you tonight.
Your compliments are so sweet, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts...but honestly it's the collective community here that brings so much meaning and depth to Tripawds. There is not a day that goes by when we aren't blown away by how much people care about eachother's packs here. It definitely has something to do with the deep bond everyone shares with the animal kingdom....not everyone in this world gets it, but we can always strive for a better world for this planet's animals, starting with how we offer support and help to one another here at Tripawds.
Don't feel badly about not being here so much. Life does go on and we understand that...but the friendships we create amongst eachother, and the brave spirits of our Tripawd Warriors, will always stay strong in our hearts and memories.
Many, many hugs coming your way. Thank you for making us smile with beautiful Mackenzie's best video EVER! xoxo

Oh, I know what it is like leading up to the year anniversary, and then the two-year one. The memories come back so vividly - the good ones of the time they enjoyed life, and the sad ones when losing them. How great that you had that pool for Mackenzie to enjoy herself and what a happy swimmer she was.
Take care,
Susan
No, thank you!

What a beautiful girl! She looks like she was so happy. What a great life she had with you.
And you are so right - Tripawds is an amazing place. I say it often to the "newbies" but I mean it 100% - I don't think you will find a more supportive group of people on the 'Net!
Thanks for sharing the video of your beautiful California girl with us.
Jackie, Abby's mom
Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!
It's a sad day because we miss Mackenzie so much. But, oh my gosh! We made some wonderful memories! And seeing her in that video again brings smiles from ear to ear!
We love you Mackenzie! Thank you for making 2010 a wonderful year for those that met you for the first time that year!
P.S.
MB Rocket says he wishes he was with you, Kami to make you smile today. (he very smitten now) He'd even give you one of his "monkey" toys he got from you for Christmas! But I had to remind him that re-gifting doesn't work if it's re-gifted to the one that gave you the gift!
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
our hearts are full, knowing how you still miss your beautiful girl. we hope mackenzie and gayle have hooked up, and maybe, just maybe, mackenzie can convince our girl that it really IS fun to go swimming. hugs.
charon & spirit gayle
Life is good, so very, very good!!! Gayle enjoyed each and every moment of each and every wonderful day (naps included). She left this world December 12, 2011 – off on a new adventure.
Love Never Ends
Oh Kami I remember the day so sadly. It was not long after I lost Tai and it brought the pain all the way back to the surface again. I feel the same, there isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of Tai and that often brings me to thinking of beautiful Mackenzie. How lucky we were to share our lives with such loving amazing dogs. Tripawds really are a special group - both the dogs and their 2 legged companions. I shall raise a glass at New Years in a special toast to Mackenzie the beautiful!
Laura
Tai – 9 yr old lab. Diagnosed Osteosarcoma Dec 18/09. Front right leg amputated Dec 21/09. Started chemo Jan 7/10. Lung mets discovered Sept 16/10. Valiant to the end on Oct 26/10 when cancer reappeared in a leg and we made the decision to set her free. Forever in my heart where not even cancer can take her from me.
Kami -
We still think of Miss Mack often and especially of her swimming videos. We loved watching her what a golden is supposed to do in water!! We hope the hurt in your heart is filled up by sweet and special memories of your sweet and special golden girl.
Ginger and pawrents
Hey Kami, hopefully time has let some of the memories bring a sense of enjoyment and comfort in knowing you did all you could for her, and giving her a great life at the same time. Big Paws up for Mackenzie, Spirit Gus and Dan
My buddy Gus had a left front amputation on April 7, 2010 and lived a great life until July 26,2010
Kami,
I, too, can hardly believe it's been a year already since Mackenzie's passing. That video brings back lots of great memories of your girl. Thanks for the smile tonight(and holding back a tear or two).
