Hello all.  My name's Jim, and I just recently joined as my dog Jake became a Tripawd in July.  I had hoped to become a regular on here.  Unfortunately, Jake's cancer spread to his lungs, and he went downhill very quickly.  He passed yesterday, peacefully, after having a nice day filled with his favourite foods and a lot of visitors, which was his favourite thing, even more than the food.

I'm sorry I didn't get time to put more of his story up here, or to get to know some of you.

Best wishes to everyone, and a hope for health.

Jim

Oh Ji., we're so very, very sorry ro hear of Jake's crossing. This just breaks my heart and we are all crying with you. I'm just so sorry. You ARE family and Jake is "one of our own" too.

The lictures you posted show a very handsome, very happy and clearly well loved boy with a proud Papa by his side.

When you feel @ike it, we would LPVE to hear more about Jake and your life together...with more pictures of course!

Goodness knows you tried EVERYTHING possible for your sweet boy. I think that's the one thing that helps us get through this part of the journey...we tried. That, and knowing you gave him a beautiful celebration of life send off...such a selfless act of love.

Jake never measured his life by days on a calendar. He was just happy to be with you in the moment. And I know you made those "moments"full of love and spoiling and fun!

Jerry always reminds us that the last days are just a blink of an eye comlared ro the thousands a d thousands of wonderful days of living life to the fullest!

PLEASE know we are here for you. No o e u derstands the intensity of this journey...the intense love a d the intense grief like we do. You are going to be in deep despair for a long time. The void will seem unbearable. Youy want to rush home..a d there's no reason to. You'll want to stay away from the house, only to return because you can't be away from "him".

I'm going to post a link that Ingrid (Nixon's human) posted recently. No words can really help. We just hope you can take comfort in knowing we care, we are here for you and we understand.

Jake's life mattered! I know he inspired everyone he met...and he will continue to do so! We "know" Jake and we "know" your love for Jake and his love for you. What a team!! We look forward to hearing more about this special boy!

Sending you love and surrounding you with Jake's eternal grace..

I am sorry to hear of Jake crossing the bridge. Yes, please share more of him with us, if you feel up to it. I know, when I lost my Ty, it helped a lot. We did not have a real long time either after his amputation, but the friendships built here and the support I have received is irreplaceable. Lori, Ty & Gang

TY GUY, Best Black Lab ever! Diagnosed  and had amp in January, 2014. Kicked MRSA's butt. Earned his angel wings on April 16, 2014. Run Free my boy and don't forget a shoe. Ty is a proud member of the " April Angels". Ty sent us Daryl, a Tripawd rescue in Sept. of 2016. Daryl is 5 +or -. We are also Pawrents to Chandler, a Border Collie mix who is 15 and 1/2, Lucy, a Corgi who is 7, 2 minis, 2 horses, and a feisty cat named Zoe. Zoe had a non skeletal Osteosarcoma removed in July 2015. No Chemo, she was at least 16. She is going strong although she is now completely blind. She is now close to 20 and her hobbies are eating and sleeping in front of her personal heater.

Jim, I am so sorry for your loss of your sweet Jake, what a beautiful pup he was..... Sometimes this unwanted journey is completely unfair and overwhelmingly heartbreaking..... I agree with what everyone else has said here, we all do understand the agony of this journey, but remember the overall joyful life you shared with Jake, that is what matters most in all this.

And yes, Lori mentioned when you are ready, we would love to hear more about that life you shared with Jake, and like Michelle said, once you are a member here, you will always be a member here. Jake will never be forgotten here.....

Keeping you in my thoughts, and hoping for peace and healing in your heart, and may happy memories of Jake stay within your heart always.....

Jim,

Allow me to also offer my sincere condolences for your painful loss.... like the others have said, we would love to hear more about Jake when you feel up to it. It's a hard journey to go alone so let us be here for you now. This community is unlike any other ... we all "get it"... hugs to you

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Jim and Jake, my heart brakes for you, it is just tragic and so awful when our Tripawd heroes don't get the time we had all hoped for. I'm really, really sorry.  Those photos are just so sweet.

Thank you though, for taking the time to stop by and introduce yourself. It is never too late to join us and share what Jake's life meant to you. In fact I'd love to feature it for Tripawd Tuesday so do contact me with a story an a couple of photos and I'll be happy to share it in our news blog OK?

Here is the discussion Sally was referring to. I agree, a must-read:

Sending prayers and comfort vibs your way. It's amazing how these animals become such an pillar in our lives. When they leave everything defiantly feels unstable for a while. I wish we could do more but just know we are thinking of you.

Noone understands like we do here.. it doesn't matter if Jake was a tripawrd for 1 month, 1 year or 5 years... The main fact was that Jake was yours... and you were his.. right to the very end.  It's the hardest, most loving thing that we do as pawrents when we let them go.  When we love hard, we grieve hard.

And I believe that they all go to the Bridge where they hang out and have their youth, strength and stamina back.  They stretch in the greenest grass that smells like the sweetest dew at that perfect time of day where you inhale deep and it is the best smell you have every smelt!  The never ending supply of food and treats never allows them to go hungry and the river has the sweetest, thirst quenching cool liquid that you could imagine.  And they wait there for us.. but don't worry... the clock is different there.  Years to us is only days to them and that is so that they don't feel lost without us for that long.

Our hearts break when we hear of another tripawd joining the Bridge Pack.  My Franklin is there, causing rukus I am sure!!  I lost him 5 1/2 months after his amputation when the cancer hit his lungs as well..   so I know how you feel.  Many of us do.

Please come back and tell us about Jake.  We love to hear and celebrate his life with you.  He'll always be with you.. he's in your heart.

Share him with ours.

Christine..... with Franklin in her heart♥

Franklin, he was the Happiest Dog on Three Legs! Diagnosed 09/26/2012 with Osteosarcoma, amputated 12/4/2012.  Had a wonderful 5 1/2 months painfree until he ran for the Bridge on 5/15/2013.  Always in my heart, and always a guardian angel of my pack...   You can follow his Tripawd Adventures, before and after, in my blog, Frank'n'Farter!

Jim, my Happy Hannah was one of APRIL'S ANGELS. 2014.

I always look for Christine's post when she's supporting someone during their time of grief. She ALWAYS reminds me..reminds us all...of what the other side of this life is like over at the Bridge. She puts us there. We know its true!

.ay her words bring you comfort kike they still do me one yr.and almost five months later.

Jim, I'm so sorry to hear about sweet Jake. What beautiful a beautiful fur-baby. It's obvious he was special as all of our heart-puppies are.

Keeping you and your pack in my thoughts and prayers,

pam

Jim,

I'm so sorry for your loss of sweet Jake.  Like Jake we had to let our Leland go 4 weeks to the day post amp.  Leland wasn't dealing with cancer but his health started rapidly declining soon after the amp.  It's so hard losing a beloved fur kid and especially one that has gone through an amputation because they become very dependent on us to help them adjust.  Just know that we are here for you and you're still part of this "family" whether you were here for 1 day or years.  This journey brings us together.

Just know that Jake is now healthy and happy and will be waiting for you when it's your time to leave this earth.

Jim: so sorry for your loss.  This is a difficult moment for all tripawd parents.  We all are or were in the same boat, and all very proud of our tripawd heroes, so brave and stoic and living life at its fullest, giving back all the unconditional love only dogs are capable of giving back (disclaimer: never had a cat).  Jake was very fortunate to have you as his human.  His presence in your life doesn´t end with his crossing to the other side.

hugs from Daniela & Johnnie

Our awesome Golden Boy was diagnosed for OSA in April 2014 in the proximal humerus, front-leg amp on 05/20/2014. Finished chemo (Carbo6) on 07/10/2014. Ongoing treatment: acupuncture + K-9 Immunity Plus ( 3chews) and home-cooked no-grain diet.   Stopped Apocaps because of liver issues.   Liver issues: controlling altered enzymes with SAM-e and Milk Thistle.  October 17:  started having seizures.  Taking fenobarbital for seizures.  April 18: started prednisone.

Jim,  SO sorry for your loss.   It is such a tough loss to endure.  Like your Jake, my Golden Boy, Eddy, was diagnosed with OSA that eventually spread to his lungs.  He passed to the rainbow bridge 8 months ago and took a huge piece of my heart with him.  We would LOVE to hear more about Jake.  Please update us on his wonderfully lived life when you are able.  Like others have said, in the Tripawds group, we are ALL family!  This group helped me in more ways than I could have ever have imagined, before and after Eddy's passing.  Please know we are here for you.  Again, my sincere sympathy.....

Betsy, Golden Girl Millie and sweet angel, Eddy <3

Betsy Golden and Angel, Eddy.  Eddy was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma 7-23-14, had a left rear amputation 8-07-14, had 3 rounds of carboplatin chemotherapy,  a small lung met was discovered in October, had 2 rounds of doxorubicin, and unfortunately more lung mets were discovered.  Eddy fought cancer valiantly and went to the Rainbow Bridge 1-6-15, at the age of 7 years and 359 days, just six days short of his 8th birthday.   Best Dog, Ever....you will never be forgotten.
