It is with heartbreaking sadness I must report that Chico earned his angel wings yesterday when we made the horrible decision to put him down.

In the end, it was not his cancer, or the metastatic lung tumors, that got him.  It was the kidney failure.  Although I administered subcutaneous fluids twice daily and he was getting steroids to build him up and make him hungry, he lost 17 pounds in a little over a month and was refusing all food the prior two days.  I just couldn't let him suffer any longer.

Chico was my best friend.  The best dog I've ever had.  He will be missed beyond measure.

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Allison, I'm so sorry.  CRF is so difficult to battle, it has taken several of our Tripawd warriors.

I hope the good memories help to lessen the pain of loss.  Your boy fought a brave battle and will not be forgotten.

As your best friend Chico will live on in your heart and so will always be by your side.

Please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of your handsome Chico.......he was born on the exact month, day, and year that I brought my sweet Polly home as a puppy, who is now my love-of-my-life Tripawd. It is one of the hardest things to go through, losing our beloved pets, but so worth the journey. May all happy memories of him erace the pain in your heart. :'(

Chico has always been a beacon of hoe for Hapy Hannah and myself ever snce we started this journey His lightof nspiration still shines brightly on everyone in the tripawd commnity.

CHICO...aka...BEAT THE ODDS XHICO"! Yep, that's how started oneof my replies t yoj several months ago and the title is even more true today!

You twomhave an nbreakable bond. It iss clear you are soulmates and NOTING can EVER separate you two!

You did everything possible for Chico and he knew it too! He also knew yo would be by his side as he asked you to release him from ths part of the journey. His trust in yo never faltered.

Nothing we can do or say will help ease yor unbearable grief right now. We cry withyou. We LOVE Chico!

You were aways so helpful sharing his regimin. You and Chico were constantly reaching out and touching lives in so many ways.

One of my favorite stories you told about him was when someone wanted to buy him! And that someone was a man sith a "fake" leg who was inspired by Chico! Needless t say, that guy was barkng up the wrong tree!

Chico savored every moment withyou and lived life to the fullest! His avatar pcture says it all....."I'm one happy pup! Thanks mom! I kow what love is and I know what happness is!"

A dog like Chico......a dog whose life mattered...a dog whose presence here touched lives... a dog li,e that will NEVER be forgotten!

It's a privilege to be on this journey with you. When you can, I hope you share more about yoj and Chico and the wonderful adventures you two have had.. My guess is everyone feel n love withhim instantly! And then to become a senior tripawd on top of that...OMD! He melted hearts everywhere! I know he did mine!

Chico will co tine to make his presence known to you...he will. His loving energy surrounds and protects you...always.

Sending you love and the comfort of kowing "allis well" with Chico.......Chico, our hero, out light.

Oh my gosh, Allison, I am SO sorry to hear your news about Chico.  Watching him decline and having to decide what to do must have been pure torture on you.  You did the right thing!  He's now pain free, running and playing in joy! Remember, angel Chico is watching over you.

Paw love,

Allison, I am so very, very sorry to hear this. You have been with us for so long, we had hoped that Chico would beat the kidney disease odds. My heart goes out to you now and always. No dog could ask for better humans, you were an awesome pawrent to him, one that everyone aspires to be. He will thank you a thousand times over in his new life as an Angel Dog, and be by your side forever.

Making that decision to say goodbye just rips your heart out, and I know it feels like there will be no way to recover. I promise you will get there but in the meantime please know you can come here and lean on us. Tell us more about Chico, about your life together and all the good times. Writing about them will help you cope, and we would love to hear more.

Also, I know you had challenges posting photos before. Just email me pix and I will be happy to post them for you OK? We would love to see your boy.

I'm so sorry. Please accept my condolences.
