With mixed feeling of profound sadness and also joy, we report passing of Cassie today. Her lungs got filled with fluid caused by rapidly progressing cancer cells, and even after 2.2 litters of it was drained just this past Tuesday, it became too difficult for her to keep on going. The way she recovered on Wednesday gave us a small hope that maybe, she would have a while longer to go. By Thursday evening, hover, her breathing was laboring again, and she could not sleep at all Thursday night.
She was a true trooper to the very end - surviving a rare disease of canine aspergilosis when she was 4, then losing her front leg to the darn bone cancer when she was 10 but thriving as a tripawd and enjoying her life to the fullest for another year, until today. She was a mountain biking, hiking, snow shoeing, swimming, camping, trail working dog that traveled so many places with her pawrents and couldn't ever get enough outdoor time.
We are convinced that a guardian angel was watching over her because she went over the rainbow bridge in the comfort of her own home as all of her people, including my daughter who happened to come home 2 days ago from Colorado without any knowledge of what was happening, watched over and petted her as she drifted into sleep. She also got to have her last walk with all of us this morning, with her favorite snow on the ground to boot.
Sadness, because we can't yet imagine our lives without Cassie. Joy, because we were so blessed to have had 9 fantastic years with Cassie as an integral part of our family.
Thanks for everyone's advice, empathy, understanding and encouragement during her journey as a tripawd. This site really kept us going when things were tough. Please give your puppy some extra hug tonight in her honor.

Beautiful, sweet Cassie...you were already an Angel the day you were born.
I'm not in the States right now and inter-net is very sparse. I jist saw this and jad to respond, albeit briefly for now.
I know your heart is shattered and I also know her wonderful memories will help glue it back together again.
Her passing was the way SHE wanted it...surronded by her loved ones. She took pieces of each of your hearts with her, and she left pieces of her heart nestled safely in a corner of your heart.
She's a wonderful, gentle, brave soul who touched us all. She will mever be forgotten here...EVER! Her life matters.
Please know we share in your loss and we also sjare in the "glory of Cassie Wassie"!!

I'm so very, very sorry. The decision to say goodbye is never easy, but if you can openly express gratitude for the time you had together, as you are doing, the joy of your memories can keep you strong as you cope with such great loss.
Oh Cassie girl, how you will be missed! I'm so sorry that your time to fly away arrived, but I will be looking for you in the heavens each and every day. The stars are even brighter now that you are lighting up the sky.
What life you led pretty girl, with people who loved you and gave you the best life a dog could ask for. I know your humans will miss you tremendously, as will we, but your courageous life will always be honored and remembered by your pack and the Tripawds community.
You are our hero, now and always. Fly free, roam and run and play and swim, and some day we will meet at the Bridge where we can all go for a long, beautiful hike together.

I'm so sorry. She had a wonderful life with you all. Smiles will replace the tears as time goes on. I'm happy she was able to cross the Bridge at home, surrounded by her favorite people. (((Hugs)))

Liberty (Libby) was diagnosed with OSA on 1-22-13. Right front amputation on 1-31-13. No IV Chemo. Metronomic Therapy started 2-19-13 along with supplements and some home cooking. Lungs clear until 1-06-14. She's still her happy, hoppy, bossy self. Living the dog life to the fullest and a proud Winter Warrior. :) RIP my Libby 4-21-03 to 3-19-14

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

05/04/2006 - Bosch, Sassy's pal, earned his wings 03/29/19 fought cancer for 4 months.

What a beautiful picture of Cassie, she sure sounds like she was quite the fighter. Having her cross Rainbow bridge at home surrounded by people who loved her sounds like the best possible way. Its hard to say goodbye, but she will always be loved.

Chloe became a rear amp tripawd on 7-29-10. Another tumor was removed on front leg 2-20-14. Found 3rd tumor on neck 2-2015, but she's still kicking cancer's butt at age 14. Chloe's blog

I'm so very sorry. I think you're right, there must have been a guardian angel, and it's been watching over Cassie since the day she was lucky enough to become part of your family. And now you have a guardian angel...Cassie will always be with you and watching over you.

I'm so sorry for your loss of Cassie. You never want to loose your dog, but I'm sure you can be pleased for the time you got together and it means so much. It sounds like Cassie had a really good life with a loving family. After some time you will be able to remember just the good parts, but now of course it hurts sooo much. Sending you lots of love.
