Just wanted to thank everyone and especially Pam for responding to several questions over the months.  Your insight and advice have helped us tremendously in managing Alexei's cancer

His recovery from the original surgery and quality of life was wonderful even with his sudden swollen belly over the last few weeks.  He never missed a meal or lost his passion for life and for that we are so thankful.  We lost Alex this morning during exploratory surgery where we had hoped to find a tumor confined to his spleen.  The tumor was on his liver and had destroyed most of the organ.  We elected not to wake him up.  cry

You are in my thoughts as you face this loss.  I love dobies, so Alexei is special to me.  I can only hope the many wonderful memories you've collected over the years will give you a smile and help you to heal.

RIP sweet Alexei.  Run free at Rainbow Bridge.

Paul and Carol,

I am so sorry that you had to let Alexei go today.  This cancer journey is so unpredictable- we never know how much time we have.  I am  glad that Alex was himself right up to the end- and that it gives you some comfort.

I hope in the coming days and weeks that the good memories, and the lesson's that Alex's journey taught you will bring you some peace.  One day there will be mostly smiles when you think of him.

Paul and Carol,

I am so saddened to read of his loss today.  I think you did the most heroic of things, but the cost is so heartbreakingly high.  Our prayers and support and hugs go to you and your family today, and to Alexei, I am sure he feels your love.  You saved him from further fading away, and all of the loss that comes with that.  He looks like a beautifully proud boy.  You did everything you could for him.

I couldn't begin to say how special Sammy is to us.  Living and laughing with and loving this wonderful boy is priceless.

Paul and Carol,

We are deeply sorry, you are both in our thoughts tonight.

Losing our best friend so suddenly is a heartbreak beyond belief, you have our deepest condolences.

The beautiful image of Alexi racing down the street will always live on in our hearts. May he run free and out of pain with all of our Spirit Tripawd friends for all of time.

Thank you for sharing his story and being a part of this community. It was too brief, but his story you shared in his Tripawd Dog Blog will continue to touch others. Thank you for taking the time to tell the world about his amazing, beautiful life.

Paul and Carol,

I am so very, very sorry to hear about Alexei.  I know first hand that horror of having to let them go when you have hope. It's so surreal.

For that my heart hurts for you.

My deepest condolences.

I am so sorry!  It was very brave of you to let him go on the table.  It would have probably been hard on him to wake him up and you are such great parents for recognizing that.  I know how much he will be missed.

I second what Pam said, so strong of you to be able to put Alex ahead of your own feelings.  I only hope I have that kind of strength if I'm ever faced with such a situation.

My deepest sympathy.
