I guess this came from Grey's Anamtomy (I don't watch it) but it was a pretty good quote about grief.

Grief may be a thing we all have in common, but it looks different on everyone. It isn’t just death we have to grieve. It’s life. It’s loss. It’s change. And when we wonder why it has to suck so much sometimes, has to hurt so bad, the thing we gotta try to remember is that it can turn on a dime. That’s how you stay alive. When it hurts so much you can’t breathe, that’s how you survive. By remembering that one day, somehow, impossibly, you won’t feel this way. It won’t hurt this much. Grief comes in its own time for everyone, in its own way. So the best we can do, the best anyone can do, is try for honesty. The really crappy thing, the very worst part of grief is that you can’t control it. The best we can do is try to let ourselves feel it when it comes. And let it go when we can. The very worst part is that the minute you think you’re past it, it starts all over again. And always, every time, it takes your breath away.

Hugs

Beautiful Michelle, thanks for sharing.

Read about our Hunter at http://superdog.....pawds.com/

7/27/2003 ~ 7/24/2013

Our Super Dog Hunter crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on a beautiful summer day in July, just 3 days shy of his 10th Birthday. He gave us everything since he was 8 weeks old.  Hunter was a 14 month warrior of OS.  We LOVE and MISS him every day.

Franklin, he was the Happiest Dog on Three Legs! Diagnosed 09/26/2012 with Osteosarcoma, amputated 12/4/2012.  Had a wonderful 5 1/2 months painfree until he ran for the Bridge on 5/15/2013.  Always in my heart, and always a guardian angel of my pack...   You can follow his Tripawd Adventures, before and after, in my blog, Frank'n'Farter!

That is so true and thank you for that quote. We just had to let our oldest horse go this morning and that describes everything we have been going through.

Spirit Shooter was a Miniature Australian Shepherd who was diagnosed with a MCT and had a LF amp 1/28/13 at 13-1/2 years old.

Shooter crossed the Bridge on 8/28/13, his 7 month ampuversary and two weeks from his 14th birthday.

Luanne and Shooter,

That must have been very hard for you and your family.

If you feel like it, we would love to hear more about him. Maybe even share pics if you like. We would love to see him. His life matters to all of us h. He's part of the extended tripawd family too.

I'm so sorry. I know je was very loved and will be missed deeply.

Love,

Sally and Happy Hannah

Luanne I too am very sorry to hear that about your horse. How old was s/he?  We are learning a lot about horses here at the ranch just by observing them, didn't know much about them before we started here. They are such beautiful animals. I'm so sorry.

She was 29 and was my once in a lifetime horse. Her heart and will to live were strong, but her body just gave out and it was time to let her be free of pain. We also have her only baby (he is 16 now) and it was hard to hear him whinnying for her last night. The company of our other two are helping though. Thanks for your thoughts. I love this place and all of you!

Wow, how beautiful that she had such a long life with you. I know that doesn't make it any easier though.

I've learned how much time and devotion, and knowledge it takes to have a healthy senior horse, and I am in awe of the folks like you who can do this. What a lucky girl she was, and how neat that you have her son. I know you'll see glimpses of her in his personality for the rest of his life.
