charon & spirit gayle
Life is good, so very, very good!!! Gayle enjoyed each and every moment of each and every wonderful day (naps included). She left this world December 12, 2011 – off on a new adventure.
Love Never Ends
Oh! What a smoochie face she has! She's got her a little terrier in her for sure!
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly  January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
I have a question... until this morning her incision has been dry, this morning I noticed that when she squatted to go potty that as she strained there was a trickle of pink fluid that came out of the lowest part of the incision. Â I dabbed it with a sterile gauze pad and it isn't active bleeding, I think it is just some drainage, no foul odor but I do think she needs a bigger cone because if she pretzels herself she can lick the site.
Â
Any suggestions?
Sounds like just some seroma fluid (lots of info about seromas in the forums). If it's more clear than bloody and doesn't smell or look green, it's probably just the body's way of working that extra fluid from the missing leg out of the body. To be sure though, you may want to call your vet to mention this. Keep an eye on the incision and make sure it's not looking like it's getting infected. If it doesn't, you're probably OK. Hope so!

It's amazing how they can contort themselves to try to lick those booboos. Glad to hear she is in a bigger cone - I'm sure she's not loving it, but it won't be for that much longer.
Hope you have a restful weekend with Jane and the rest of your pack,
Jackie, Angel Abby's mom
Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!
Congratulations! You are well on your way to a speedy recovery.
If you're getting her to use that ramp, that is another great accomplishment. Many dogs won't use one if they weren't trained how to use it before surgery. Nice work!

Been thinking about you guys and was wondering how Jane Doe Dog Tripawd is doing? And if she is getting along with your little ones or has found a furever home?

My nasty tempered terrors did not accept her but I wanted to be sure that she was completely healed before we placed her anywhere. Â She took up residence in the guest room with her piles of toys.
My daughter had dibs, so yesterday we met at the park with her family and their dog Sydney...Sydney is an incredibly patient and tolerant Aussie shepherd and after a little walk and some playtime we went to daughter's home.
Â
janedoe was playing ball in the back yard with Sydney in no time at all and has settled in amazingly well. Â She has a new name. Â She is now called "Jewel" because she is such a treasure. Â She hasn't spent too much time walking about because the grandson's are taking turns having her in their laps.
Â
I am so relieved that this "took" so well, I did have 3 more on the waiting list as back up but I was really not wanting to have to move her around.... We are thrilled!
Oh hooray for Jewel having a new wonderful home and a new wonderful name, and for her still being in the family so you can see how she does. 🙂
Thanks for the good update,
