Hi, we are taking Penny, the worlds most beautiful Border collie, to her vet Saturday. In the last 60 days she has had 2 seizures. The last one was Monday evening. She was sleeping on the floor when she quickly stood up and headed down the hallway to get outside. She was limping on her right side, front and back leg, bumping into the wall on her way out. She looked dazed, confused, kinda like she had no idea where she was.
I followed her out side and when she got to the grass, she laid down. She did not loose control of her bodily functions and did not respond to me calling her. She wasn't salivating, growling or howling. I sat down next to her and stroked her for a few minutes. Picked her up and brought her back inside and put her on the couch next to me and held her and told everything was alright. She was still very tense and restless. I put her on the floor and she began to relax and mellow out. She laid there for about 5 minutes and got up and walked normally. She still looked confused but she was walking normally.
She was back to her old self in about 20 minutes.
It wasn't my cookin or Charlie passin gas. Shelby was terribly upset. Penny is 13 years old and the worst thing that has ever happened to her was and eye and ear infection at the same time.
Talk about feeling helpless, she's my baby girl. We take her at 11:40 Saturday morning. Cindi will be with Charlie, The worlds most handsome Cocker Spaniel, at the Healdsburg Library while I take Penny Poo to the vet. Wish us luck and toss a few prayers up Saturday morning.
I've done some research on the web and it could be several things, we want to find out what's causing the seizures and kick it's butt!
Thanks, the chauffeur

Jack and Cindi,
I hope you guys find something at the vet to help Penny. I know how scary seizures can be, and how helpless you can feel. Shelby is so sensitive- no wonder she was upset.
I'll be thinking good thoughts for you on Saturday- let us know what you find out.
Karen
Oh Jack.
I'm so sorry about Penny. How helpless you both must feel. Our hearts go out to you. We'll be sending amazing good vibes for Penny.
HUGS.

She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
We're so sorry! We know that Shelby's magic and the Tripawds love can get you guys through this, whatever it is. Seizures are scary, we hope it's just some simple explanation. Please keep us posted OK? We are thinking of you all. xoxo

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!
Hope that you get some answers at the Dogter. And we hope it's nothing too serious. We're sending you our best Woo mojo.

Jack & Cindi, I'm so sorry to hear Penny is not feeling well. I know how scary seizures can be: I once had a cat that had some neurological issues, and had seizures for about the last three years of her life (she lived to 20, and they were controlled with phenobarbitol). All us Hollenbecks here in So Cal are sending all of our positive thoughts and energy up to Penny and her crew. I hope whatever is going on with her is easily and quickly resolved.
So hope they are able to diagnose and medicate to stop the seizures. Our thoughts are with you.
Shanna & Spirit Trouble ~ Trouble gained her wings 3/16/2011, a 27 1/2 month cancer survivor, tail wagging. RIP sweetheart, you are my heart and soul. Run free at Rainbow Bridge.
The November Five - Spirits Max, Cherry, Tika, Trouble & Nova. 11/2008 - 3/2013 An era ends as Queen Nova crossed the Bridge.
We are sending all our positive energy and prayers your way. Our constant hope is that this will prove to be something that will only require some medicine or adjustment in diet. I have been there before with Allie, and it just required a very strict change in diet. This did solve all her problems and gave us about six more years.
Waiting in the preverbial "Pins and Needles" for your update.
