We took Paz in because of a broken front paw but it was so much more worse then that the Vet ended up saying & I seen the X ray too. He said that they thought they could fix it but wasn't for sure till they got in there and looked, we was hope everything would be fine but after I seen the X ray & the way Paz didn't pull away from the Vet when she was looking at his paw.I knew it wasn't good. The Vet called hour & half in surgery & said they fixed one part but when they got to the other part the bones where shattered & it was in his joint too. Vet told us there was 20 % chance of it healing if he could fix it.He said most of the time when they are able to save the leg, like that it causes pain in the dog & sooner or later they would have to take the leg. That was one of the hardest things we had to do! We went in this morning to see Paz & he was so happy to see us, but I could tell he wanted out of that cage.We go back to get our Pazzy at 3pm to bring him home.
Welcome to Tripawds, your future posts will not have to wait for approval.
Tell us more about Paz- how old is he? What kind of pup, from the avatar some type of spaniel?
Sorry I can't stay longer- I'm sure others will chime in soon.

PAZ IS ADORABLE! Yeah, this is a scary time but you have definitely come to the right place for support.and information!
Try and download jerry's books as you'll get a lot of information on what needs to be done when a tripod comes home. For starters though, make sure you have a lot of scatter rugs in place if you have hardwood floors to prevent slipping.
Recovery for the first week or so can be pretty rough so please stay connected to us and let us know how we can help you. I'm really glad you took your advice. I know amputation can be scary but we have seen so many cases here where people did try to say the leg based on good advice, but ended up with infections, multiple surgeries, and still ended up having to amputate
Keep us posted!
You will be amazed at how well Paz does o n three legs!
Hugsto all

It's been 2 weeks since Paz had his surgery and he is doing so much better. I'm so glad that he is off all of that medicine, he was getting very stubborn at the end on taking all of lol. He is a smart cookie, what ever we put the pill in he would eat the food then spit the pill out. One thing he loves and he never knew it was in there was peanut butter. That was how I got him to take his pain medicine. ☺
Ohhh yaaaaay! Pazzy you're rocking it! Love great news like this. Are you still on pain meds?
