Thanks so much for reading our book, I saw that you had downloaded it and am so glad you are finding it useful.
Many folks whose vets don't have overnight care will take their dog or cat home the same day of surgery and kept a close eye on them throughout the night. It's not the easiest thing but it's safer than leaving them alone so you may want to think about that. All you would need to do is ensure that you have good instructions on the pain meds, what to watch out for in the event of an emergency and of course a contact phone number. It's been done many times, you sound like you can handle it.
