Tonight I saw two young black boys, around 14, snooping around my neighbor's apartment. It's an 8 apartment building, so I know everyone who lives here and they don't. They were looking through the glass door and glancing around suspiciously. As soon as they saw my car pull in they started walking away, and when I got out of the car they started sprinting. I called the cops to inform them. Fifteen minutes later, I was going to head out to the car and on a whim I decided to take Jaime with me. As soon as I stepped out the door I started to hear rustling. The two boys ran out from behind the building, which is just air conditioning units. They came through the bushes and looked like they were heading for me, but Jaime was having NONE of it. He ran out in front of me and started barking and snarling. They jumped like they'd seen a ghost and ran straight out of the neighborhood. He scared them right off! Now they can live with the knowledge that for all their preteen toughness, they were chased off by a 25lb three-legged dog! Never been prouder of my Jaime
Wow glad you guys are all OK. Jamie rocks! How is everything else going?

Everything has been going great! We had one little episode where he had some suture sticking out, so I went to the vet and just got it clipped. His pyoderma seems to have calmed down, I'll catch a spot every now and then but nothing too serious.
Jaime's house training is now completely under control! We've had maybe one accident in the past month. We've had a few puppy hiccups, but nothing we can't laugh about. He outgrew his kennel, so I went and bought him a new canvas crate. Not only did he shred the bed inside of it, but he somehow unzipped it from the inside - the little houdini! I returned it and bought a wire crate and that works a little better, though he also shredded the mat I put inside it. I thought it was pretty sturdy and would at least provide him a challenge, but I found it in about 100 pieces. He's been doing this hilarious thing lately. Everyday I put a treat in his crate when I leave for work and everyday he boycotts it. He will sit all day and not eat the treat and then when I come home he will come out and greet me and then run back in and eat the treat. All dogs have their weird things I guess
I had to stay at work a little late the other day and the poor guy peed in his kennel. Usually I get my sister to go let him out when this happens, but she was out. I wasn't mad, because I knew he legitimately couldn't help it. I cleaned it up, but Jaime was still a little smelly. I don't have a tub, just a shower, so I usually just have the vet bathe him when he goes in, but it couldn't wait. So...Jaime took a shower with me He usually hates baths, but he seemed to love this! After we were done he kept trying to go back in. It was a little ridiculous, never thought I'd shower with a dog, but you work with what you got!
JAMIE! Love you!!! Just grinning ear to ear reading these two posts!
First kf all, CONGRATULATIONS for chasing those little hoodlums out of your turf!!! SUPER HERO JAMIE!!! You deserve a Medal of Bravery! Good job Jamie!
And I'm sure your Guardian Angel Peace was watching over both of you!
And then to read about your little snredding escapades....OMD! I know you must get absolutely bored out of your mind in a crate so I'm actually glad you found something to do to release your energy! Shhhhh.....don't tell your mom I said that though....I'm sure shew not pleased with the way you release all your lent up puppy energy!
But my FAVORITE part of these post was the way you save your treat until your mom comes home! That just melts my heart! We need video!!!
Thanks so much for the updates! And Jamie, thanks for saving your momma's life!!!
Glad everybody is safeand happy! Don't stay away so long! We love you both!

That is a GREAT update! You are doing so well with him, what a fantastic team you two make.
Too funny about the fabric crate incident. Yeah we went through the same thing with Wyatt Ray , who shredded his fabric crate the moment we left him alone in it. Later, he eventually destroyed his wire crate too but in the meantime it really helped him learn to be alone and feel safe.
Here's to you both!

Way to go Jaime!!! You are one tough little guy who isn't letting anything get between you and your mommy's safety!!!
I'm so glad that things are going so well for you both. Yeah...Lucian enjoyed tearing up his soft crate mat as well. I went to PetSmart and got him another one and paid a pretty penny for since he has a big crate. Well that one didn't last long either before he tore it up. So Lucian no longer gets comfy little foam pads in his crate...he gets some towels in there instead. At least they're cheaper to replace if he decides to tear them up but for some reason he doesn't shred the towels...
Guess he only likes to shred expensive items...
Hugs!

May you finally be healthy and running free at the Rainbow Bridge. Until we meet again my sweet boy!
My sister suggested getting him a Kuranda bed, but I feel like he could destroy it. Not the frame, but the canvas part. I feel like it wouldn't give him enough room to stand in his kennel, which could make it uncomfortable or awkward. I'm actually thinking about starting to keep him outside the crate. I know he's pretty young for that, but there's really not much he can get into in my apartment and he's much less destructive when he's not cooped up.
