Hey everyone,
I'm new to the site but found it through Facebook in hopes of some answers.
2 years ago I adopted a German Shepard. He was 2 weeks post op and had my heart.
I already had a trikitty and thought we've got this. But my boy is special. Before he was rescued he was attacked by dogs. His leg was broken in 3 spots and left to heal. He lived that way for a long time. Only knowing pain.
That has come into play now in his new life. Pure fear. I am the only one he will allow to pet his back leg. If he slips he's upset for days. Fearful yelps and hiding. He was vet checked today and it's a bit if swelling and sore. But it breaks my heart to see him so scared.
Hi Nylarose, welcome. We are glad you joined. Your future posts won't need approval so post away.
So you have two tripawds? Wow very cool! How neat that you have the perspective of both a kitty Tripawd and a dog Tripawd. What are their names?
I'm glad your vet checked out your dog. What is their recommendation? It sounds like he could be in pain and some rehab therapy might be in order. Be sure to check out these blog posts about the benefits of rehab therapy.
Dogs really pick up on our energy so try really hard to be strong. I know it's hard when you're worried but you can do it!

What is your boy's name? Has he been fearful since you adopted him or has it just come on? How old is he?
I have a special boy too, although he is a quad pug named Obie. I adopted him when he was 4 years old, he had been neglected and abused. He has been with me almost 5 years now and still has fear issues from his original owners. Pugs are outgoing and friendly in general, Obie is afraid of everything that moves. I have worked very hard with him for 5 years and we have made progress, but it is very slow.
I think you have to keep working with him, try very hard to eliminate what frustrates him. Do you have good traction in your house so he doesn't slip on hard surfaces.
Hopefully others will chime in with more ideas. We have several Tripawd GSDs here- I bet their people will have some ideas for you.
