I am so excited I cannot stand myself. The work day will not go fast enough. Spoke to the vet yesterday for an update and everyone is amazed at how well Grayson is doing. He is "greeting" the nurses and they have all said he is the sweetest little boy. That's exactly why he owns my heart. When I had to put Joe down in June I never thought any other fur baby would come close to capturing my heart again. I was so very wrong. My deceased Joe was my world and now Grayson is too.

Anyway, the nurses confirmed what the vet told me and that was you cannot even tell he just had major surgery. They were very pleased to see him eat. The nurse told me that he devoured his food and they laughed when he did it because you would have thought he had never eaten a day in his life with the way he gobbled it all up. They took him out to potty and again, no issues.

I cannot even begin to tell you all how dumb I feel for even considering initially to put him down. He obviously has a zest for life and surgery was without a doubt the right decision. I am certain that when I pick him up tonight I will cry a few more tears but this time these will be tears of happiness. I cannot wait to see my little love bug. Tonight is going to be awesome big-grin

I'm excited just reading your post!  Recovery can be overwhelming, so keep that in the back of your head somewhere for reference. Even those who recover quickly have a bad day mixed in.  The humans truly take longer to adjust than the dogs in most cases.

Each new day will be a new adventure to embrace with Grayson.  Begin today and just keep building those beautiful memories.

Awww we are so hoppy for you! Grayson has grabbed our hearts too, we're in love.

Can't wait to hear how he does back at home, where he'll be much happier.

Oh, remember, no regrets OK? Many of us thought about letting go when we first got the bad news about amputation, it's only natural. Don't look back, just forward like Grayson.

Keep us posted!

and what a happy reunion it will be!!!!!!  He will be so excited to be back home with you.  Enjoy the evening, but remember the first couple of nights can be rough.  If he does seem "odd" remember it's most likely the drugs;  he's recovering from MAJOR surgery.  After two weeks (give or take), all will be well.

Scout: January 31, 2002 to November 7, 2011

Scout's diagnosis was "poorly differentiated sarcoma"; amputation 1/11/2011.  Scout enjoyed 9 fantastic years on 4 legs and 9 glorious months on 3 legs.  If love alone could have saved you…

Sounds like he's doing well! Hope he breezes through his recovery. If not, we're here if you have questions!

Keep us posted on how he's doing.
Jackie, Angel Abby's mom

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!

That is wonderful news. He will be all hyped up when he gets home so don't be worried if he then crashes. He has had major surgery and will still need the next few weeks to rest and heal.

But an excellent start to his recovery.

Karen and Spirit Magnum

Magnum: 30th May 2002 to 5th May 2012. Lost her back left leg to osteosarcoma on 5th Sep 2011. Lung mets found on 20th Mar 2012 but it was bone mets in the hip that ended her brave battle. Magnum's motto - "Dream as if you'll live for ever, live as if you'll die today" (James Dean). Loyal, loving, courageous and spirited to the end.
