Hello:
My own girl had to have her leg amputated six days ago. The bruising is awful to see, but seemed to clear up as quickly as it came...Dogs adapt so well and I am sure your baby will also. Hang in there, and know we are all here for you! (I am quite new to this site as well, but thankful for it!)

Hello Leena- Please consider posting in a separate topic and tell us more about your pup and her story.
Â
Toni-
My pug Maggie took her time adapting, but she did. Huge improvement when the sutures came out! She was a left rear amp and that side became the side she sat on most of the time. She would lay on either side- and she could get comfortable either way, but often laid on the amp side. Some people wonder about rear amps 'sitting up' straight. She could do it, but pugs tend to sit off to the side anyway.
Below are a couple of pics of her sitting and laying on her amp side.

It so great to hear everyones stories.
Guiness has been to the vets this morning, they have removed his dressing and are very very pleased with how his amp site looks, i have just got to keep the little monkey from licking and chewing his stiches now. Looks like his collar of shame may have to come out of the cupboard once again
As Leena mention the bruising on his leg is amazing, what was a mass of black and purple yesterday has reduced by nearly half today, and the swelling has subsided massively also.
I am so, so proud of my baby for the courage he has shown and if he continues at this rate im sure he will be back to his naughty little sefl in no time.
Thanks again everyone for your support, i am going to take some more pictures today and try and upload them in my blog.........it may take me some time to fugure out how to do it
Guiness is my baby we have had 8 wonderful 4 legged years together.

I'm glad Guiness is doing well! Â Holly is a right rear amp also. Â She still has a hard time sitting on smooth, slippery surfaces (like tiles or hardwood floors). Â Although for the right treat she's always willing to give it a try! Â Â We're keeping fingers and paws crossed that Guiness continues to amaze you - after the initial recovery period he should do just great!
Sending hugs,
Holly, Zuzu and Susan
Holly joined the world of tripawds on 12/29/2009. She has a big little sister, Zuzu, who idolizes Holly and tries to make all of her toys into tripawds in Holly's honor. And she's enjoying life one hop at a time!
