Yaaaaay! You're so awesome for coming here to update us, thank you. She looks very fit,and it's wonderful to see her having a ball with the new foster pup, what a great team. She's definitely showing that little guy (12 weeks? He's huge!) how to be a great dog!

Thanks Jerry - yes he is going to be a big boy - already 32 lbs. at 12 weeks - someone left him in the parking lot of the Animal shelter - wearing a collar but no note or anything. Probably due to his size and lovely vocals. But he's already been adopted. I've not had him a week yet - he's going to his forever family in N.C. next week after he is neutered.
I didn't know how Emma would do with a foster and was frankly nervous a rambunctious pup might hurt her. But she rose to the occasion - teaching him some needed manners and coming out of her shell even more. I guess I tend to underestimate her and I should stop doing that.
So now, after the little guy leaves, I will know that she can handle longer walks through the woods, even with some rough terrain. At first, I had my daughter along to walk one of them, thinking that she may need to come back home and I wanted the puppy to burn off some energy - but she kept right up with him and was having a ball.
Thanks for listening to my ramblings....I'll stick around - I don't post too much but I won't leave - you guys saved both of us!

Rambling? No way! I'm just so happy that things went well with Emma and the Little Big Boy! How cool he's already found a home, he looks like he'll be a great dog. Do you think you'll foster another pup anytime soon?
We're glad your here! Never feel guilty about not posting, you are living life to the fullest with Emma and that's so important! You're welcome back anytime no matter how long you've been away.

Yes - Now that I see how well she does - in fact, I think it perks her up and gives her something to do! It's hard to say no when the rescue calls because it's so rewarding to take one from a kill shelter and see them placed in a loving, forever home.

How long has it been since Emma's surgery? She's looking awesome!! It will be 2 weeks since Leland's amputation tomorrow and I've started letting him hop short distances (a few feet) in the yard without the belly sling. I'm nervous letting him walk on his own without assistance but I know he has to so he'll learn to manage on his own. When he gets excited I think he forgets he doesn't have his other hind leg and he'll fall down but it's been on carpeting or grass so he doesn't get injured.
I'm just an overly protective mommy of my fur baby.
Keep up the good work and keep on fostering!

May you finally be healthy and running free at the Rainbow Bridge. Until we meet again my sweet boy!
Aww Cindy you are a saint. I'm sure it really does make her feel so important and needed. Thank you for being a foster Momma! Can't wait to read about your next one.

Shahana - it will be 12 weeks this coming Wednesday. She did have a few set-backs and had to spend a week in the hospital dealing with a bad seroma after her surgery. There is a fine line between protecting them and being over-protective. I guess it's best to err on the side of over-protective - especially in these early days that you are in now. I will say Emma has fallen quite a few times but she hops right up and seems ok. I do always watch for signs of pain and I keep Metacam and give her a dose if she seems a little slow or sore. Good luck to Leland - I'm sure you will see improvement every week. He is so lucky to have you!
Sally - how are you? {{{{{{hug}}}} I think of you & Hannah more than you know - especially when I slip Emma little treats (like ice cream). You taught me so much about living in the moment with her!
Thanks Linda - I hope she has a long life ahead. I love her more every day.
I will certainly share updates from Emma and news of any incoming fosters. Keeps our life interesting and after all - had I not started doing rescue I would have never had Emma - can't imagine that
