Welcome Bitty!
Happy 3 week Ampuversary! We need to see some pics and hear more about her!
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Welcome Bitty and pack!
Happy 3 week ampuversary. Three is a great number around here!

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!

Hi my name is Bitty. I'm a Chinese crested & Mini poodle. One summer afternoon my mommy was driving down the street and saw puppys for sale so she stopped to look. In a small cage she saw two big lab puppys when she looked closer there I was under the other pups. She picked me up and the next thing I new I was in the car going to her house. Mom say's. That when I was 2years old I hert my left back leg. I remember herrting it I just don't no how old I was.my mommy had to give me shots And nasty meds. Mom sayI have a birth defect(luxating patella)
geesh bitty, sounds like you are a very tiny pup!!! lucky for you your mom looked in the bottom of that cage and snatched you up. sorry you had to lose your leg, but we all found that three legs were really enough, the other was a spare. hope you will post some pictures, we'd love to see your beautiful face!!

Strangely enough, Zeus seemed more painful after the stitches came out, too. It could be a pain or sensation thing, or maybe phantom pain ? We had a lot of luck with ice packs to help ease the discomfort.
Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11. A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

we agree with zeus' recommendation of ice. you can use a bag of frozen peas too, just put it over the incision area for 10 minutes or so at a time. maybe bitty tried to move too quickly, and is pulling on the healed incision. hope the pain stops soon - nothing worse than a pup that's in pain!!

Sorry you are not feeling great Bitty. Hope the ice helps. (10 min at a time only!) If that doesn't seem to help, you might want to call the vet and ask about getting some Gabapentin. We didn't need it with Abby, but I know a lot of other folks on here said it helped a lot with phantom pain .
Feel better soon!
