We just adopted a 2 year old female with 1/2 a left rear leg. Sometimes she walks (peg leg like a pirate) and sometimes she hops. She is a sweet kitty!
My home is all wood floors, a few throw rugs only as I have 2 very sheddy dogs. Little Miss slips in the wood a lot. I am wondering about how to give her some grip with her peg leg. Like a little rubber sock or something.
Looking for thoughts /ideas from people who have “solved” to this already!
Hi Deb. Thank you for adopting that sweet kitty💖
Your post has been approved and nomw others can chime in. I personally don't have any insight for you on your situation, hopefully others can help. Yeah, slippery floors can be quite harmful to tripawds (or "peg legs"), so good for you for recognizing that.
Curious, do you know the cause for the partial amputation? How long ago?
She has certainly found a loving home.
Hugs

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Thanks for rescuing a Tripawd! Yep, slippery floors are a three-legged animal's worst nightmare, and can put them at risk of injury.
The best way to solve the problem is to create traction in your home. You can do this with non-slip carpet runners or yoga mets. Most animals will gravitate to them once they see how much more confident they feel on the runners.
There's a Dr. Buzby's Toe Grips for senior and handicapped dogs, but I haven't seen anything like this for cats. Same with no-slip socks for cats, I just haven't seen any.
Let us know what you figure out!
