What a gorgeous boy. I'm so glad you have taken him into your home. He is so lucky to have found you.
Putting rugs over slippery floors and keeping lean will help him get around on those 3 legs just fine. Plus, the exercises Jerry talks about to strengthen core muscles would help him a lot too.
Karen and Spirit Magnum
Magnum: 30th May 2002 to 5th May 2012. Lost her back left leg to osteosarcoma on 5th Sep 2011. Lung mets found on 20th Mar 2012 but it was bone mets in the hip that ended her brave battle. Magnum's motto - "Dream as if you'll live for ever, live as if you'll die today" (James Dean). Loyal, loving, courageous and spirited to the end. My beloved heart dog, see her memoirs from Rainbow Bridge ...... http://princess.....pawds.com/
He is beautiful and his eyes show so much trust after all he has been through. You and your family are angels in disguise!
Spirit Shooter was a Miniature Australian Shepherd who was diagnosed with a MCT and had a LF amp 1/28/13 at 13-1/2 years old.
Shooter crossed the Bridge on 8/28/13, his 7 month ampuversary and two weeks from his 14th birthday.
Thank you for rescuing! We do not have a single inch of carpet in our house and our tripawd has adapted well. He looks right at home.

Just thought I'd update. So far so good with Chance. He's fitting right in and he is settling down. He's spoiled for sure already. Here he is with my oldest and our other lab. We've learned he loves car rides and going with us places. I am still a bit of a mother hen and worry about him slipping. He's slipped a few times on our tile and wood floors.
Congrats on your newest family member...he is a very handsome fella!!! I too adopted a dog that was already a tripawd when I got her and sadly her leg was amputated because of the same reasons, however, like Chance she has adapted to three legs with no problems
I am on board with everyone who are suggesting keeping him lean and building his core muscles...it will help him have a long healthy life. I also suggest looking into finding a Animal Chiropractor in your area. Losing a back limb isn't as hard on dogs because they already shift their weight forward, however, because Chance is a front leg amputee this can put extra pressure on his spine and the other limbs so getting him adjusted on a regular basis will help keep his spine moving freely.
Keep sharing those photos

He is so very handsome and what a lucky fella to have found you for his family. Everyone has pretty much covered the advice and now that you've had him a bit, I'm sure you are all falling into the groove just fine. Congratulations!
Adelaide is a young tripawd Husky, from an injury. Her amp was on 10/1/12. She has 4 sisters, Aissa (a senior border collie/chow), Maggie May (a puppy Great Pyrenees), Mathilde and Morrigan and 1 baby brother, Bagheera. We are all watched over by our angel Brendol, who was dx with OSA 1/30/13, amp on 2/6/13, and left us on 8/20/13.

Lucky dawg! I love this photo, thanks for the update.
Have you put runners down in his favorite / most well-worn paths around the house? Most Tripawds will stick to the carpeted areas once they realize that they can slip if they don't use em.

Look at all that love!!! Lucky dogs!
ACL tear in right hind leg 12/5/12 and scheduled ACL repair surgery 12/21/12. Pre-op xrays revealed osteosarcoma. Amputation 12/28/12. Chemo (carboplatin) started Jan 10, 2013 and ended on April 5, for a total of 5 doses. He handled carbo like a champ! No side effects. We started metronomic therapy at his third chemo and have been also doing some holistic treatments. He's a lively, playful 10 year old huskie-boarder collie and a very proud member of the Winter Warriors! Our love. Our funny little guy!
I haven't put extra rugs down, but we have 3 in the kitchen he likes to go right to those and I like to keep the dining room/ play room without a rug because both doors to the outside are in that area and he has slipped out the door once already and ran down the road. I like that he is a bit hesitant in there so there is less chance he will run off. He has gotten very comfy here. lol At some point we may get a runner rug for there.
You are an angel rescuing Chance and welcoming him into your home. He looks so happy in all the pictures. I bet this is the first time, in a long time, that he has been happy and feels safe. It looks like Chance and your son are going to be lifetime best friends. It breaks my heart that some people chose to neglect their dogs. But my heart is warmed when kind people like yourself take in those dogs and love them unconditionally. Good luck with Chance and I look forward to reading more about him.
