It will be two weeks on Monday (October 9) since my dog Dixie had her back right leg amputated. (cancer) She is doing well, I'd even say great during the day. In fact, I have to keep her from doing "too much" but she just started this whining and panting at night.  I have a matress with a memory foam topper on the floor for her.  I sleep with her.  I keep up with all her meds.  This just started Friday night.

Can you list all of her meds?  If this is new you may be reducing the gabapentin too soon. Phantom pain can persist for a while in some dogs and they may need to take gabapentin for up to a month.  Most dogs that get a little loopy from the narcotic pain meds have this issue right away.  There also might be something about the way she is sleeping that is causing her pain.  Has the incision healed?  Any swelling?
