Hello,
I recently adopted a mutt from our local shelter. She is a front leg amputee. She is around 9 kilos, 1,5 years old terrier mix.
All of a sudden, more often after a walk, she suddenly cries in pain, yelping and with tail tucked down. In the same time, she is licking herself a lot. Is she in pain, can it be joints or what? thanks in advance

I'm leaving your post here so that Dr. Pam can weigh in with her vet expertise. In the meantime, I'll chime in with my non-vet thoughts about her pain signals . It does sound like she is in pain, and perhaps is doing too much than her body is capable of doing at this point. When was her amputation surgery?
Dr. Pam will give you some direction for what to consider now, and in the meantime consider having her evaluated by a physiotherapist. They can help you learn what she is and is not capable of doing, and how to help her get strong. The best part is that Tripawds Foundation can pay for your first rehab visit ! When was the surgery performed? If recent then it could be phantom pain . If not recently then perhaps she has a soft tissue injury or spinal pain. She really needs radiographs or at least an exam to determine the source of her discomfort.
