Hi Rustyd0g--Hoping to get an update. I'm having a very similar situation with my 2 year old tripawd pitbull. A week after her surgery to remove a rear leg she began limping. Fearing it was her hip (she's showing signs of hip dysplasia) we got the news that she has a partial tear in the ACL (or ccl whatever it is). She's scheduled for surgery to have the Tightrope procedure next week and I'm really curious about the rehabilitation.

Hope everything turned out ok!

Yes, he's been to an Orthopedic surgeon and had a joint tap yesterday to find out what is going on at the ligament. We are waiting for the results. I guess it seems like his ligament is degenerating. We'll find out the extent of it with the results of the joint tap. I think surgery is going to be what the doctor recommends and I'm leaning towards that being his best option.

I am thinking of getting a second opinion from a rehab vet though. Anyone know what they are likely to recommend as an alternative/addition to surgery?

Hi Alison, thanks for posting. Please consider becoming a member so your posts won't require approval.

I hope your dog has a great recovery. We've had quite a few Tripawds go through leg and hip surgeries after losing a limb. It's not easy but it's not impossible either. These Forums search results share a lot of info about others' experiences so I hope it helps. Do consider starting a new topic in "Beyond Cancer" and share more of your story with us, we're here to help!
