Hi!
My dog Cooper had his front leg removed about a month ago after confirmed osteosarcoma. His recovery has been pretty tough as the incision was infected and wasn't wanting to heal. He had a tie over bandage with an open wound for a while which was pretty painful for him and that resulted in him not sleeping well and always laying on his left side. Last Friday we were finally able to get the last part of his incision stitched back up and it looks to be healing great and we get the stitches out Wednesday. They took the tie over bandage off and now Cooper has been SOO restless at night. He is on some pain meds still and trazadone. He lays down, then within a minute or two hops back up walks a little bit then lays down in the same position. Normally I know some restlessness is probably normal but this is CONSTANT all night! He is eating and drinking normal and is still on antibiotics and the wound looks to be healing properly. He tries to lay on his other side then gets halfway down, panicks a little, then lays on the same side over and over. He seems to be walking okay so maybe his hip is hurting? I guess I'm just not sure what I should be looking for to do, or how to help him. Also any tips to get him to rest on the other side (the side with the missing leg) to maybe help ease some pain on the side he always lays on? He has had a TPLO surgery so he acts like he can't quite bend his knee all the way. Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!

Hi Ashley, thanks for posting here. Dr. Pam will hopefully be able to chime in soon. She has so much wisdom and experience. There are so many subtleties here that she should be able to give you some better direction than we can.
Some questions:
What is the dosage and timing of the pain meds and trazadone? Are you following a strict schedule?
When was his TPLO surgery?
