just wondering my 12 year old 102lb Male Belgian Terveran sheepherder was diagnosed with Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumor, last August.
Took awhile to get pain med's adjusted, since amputation and surgery were of no option too far up on spine.
So he is currently taking.....
Tramadal 100mg every 6 hours
Gabapentin 400mg every 8 hours
Rimadyl 100mg twice a day
denamarin once a day
Fortiflora once a day
Fish Oil 2,000mg once a day
Adaquin injection twice a month
Vit B12 injection once a month
I am pretty sure pain is under control, but I think the stingers or whatever it may be is the problem, as his stability is worse, and when standing his leg jumps a bit on it's own, sometimes crosses over with his over hind leg and then will fall over, he was hopping around really well even running without really using this one leg, but now he pretty much lies a round and the problem now is night time he paces the floors, nudging us waking us for whatever, I think maybe he is anxious?? Like right now he is sleeping perfectly and soundly, breathing easy, and I am exhausted!! So might his drugs be causing him the restlessness at night?? But if so then why not so much during the day?
thank you for your time, Penni
Your vet may be able to provide better information, but perhaps these podcasts in the Tripawds Downloads blog may prove helpful...

I am assuming based on the Rimadyl dose that your dog weighs about 100 pounds. Ask your vet first but you can up the gabapentin to 600 mg every 8 hours and consider adding amantadine to help with potential pain. These tumors do send out "fingers" of tissue growth so localized nerve pain is possible. A safe option for anxiety is trazadone.
