Jill has been on metronomics now for 2 months (chlorambucil/leukeran). On Sunday, she had a CBC and her Neutrophils were 2900, which is pretty good for her, she's had lowish neutrophils through IV chemo. Her WBC's were 3.5, which is low, but her onco is not so concerned that its too low.
Her lymphocytes are 9.7, absolute lymphocytes 340 (normal says its 1500-7000). So obviously, this concerned me when I saw it. I asked her onco about it, I know lymphocytes can dropped when kitties get stressed, but this seemed extremely low. She said she wasn't too concerned, because she wasn't seeing any signs of illnesses associated with low lymphocytes. Jill is acting fairly normal. She has been a bit lethargic off and on, and has had some GI issues - but I have started her on pepcid and that has seemed to help things. She has also lost 10 ounces since the GI issues started. So, I wasn't really concerned once her onco put my mind at ease.
HOWEVER, tonight, Jill's GP called me to follow-up, saying she saw her CBC and wondered what the onco had to say about the low lymphocytes. I told her what she said and she said that seemed ok to her. But of course, now I'm worrying.
So my question, can lymphocytes go THAT LOW from just stress??? Do I need to be concerned???
Jill is a 9-year-old tuxedo kitty. She was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in June 2012 on her toe in her right hind leg. Her leg was amputated on 12/12/12 and she completed four rounds of chemo (2 of Carbo, 2 of Doxy) in April 2013. I know you're waiti g for a vet to reply.....but, in the meantime, I'd try and focus on what the o co. saaid because she reallh is more tuned i to Jill and the specifics related to the way she reacts to the drug. And just because the GP mentio ed it, had she been REALLy concerned, he would have said so and not have blown it off so easily...Realy, I'm not just saying this!
