I have a rottie girl, 4 1/2 about 80 lbs, 3 1/2 weeks post op rt ft leg amputation. Just brought her home from the vet yesterday after problems with vomiting..is on ID food for now...everything was fine ..let her out last night around 10 pm to potty...must have fallen asleep...went to get her in around midnight and found her laying in the yard in the dirt...she has layer in the dirt instead of patio before....however..she didn't want to walk with me back inside...seemed very lethargic ..took her temp. and it was 103.0 soooo...questions is if she ate a bunch of dirt...can it cause this type of reaction..?
We have been back and forth to the vet almost every day...keep in mind she was very active and fine 2 hours prior when she alerted me ..she need to go out......I just don't understand ...
She did eat her dinner fine around 7:30 pm...

103 is not super high for a dog...I was told that normal is up to 102 for a dog. An elevated temp can meet a lot of things and infection is one but there are a myriad of other things. I would assess in the morning and if still elevated, consult with your vet.

Hmmm.....how is she this morning? A lw grade fever could make her want to lay in the dirt because it's cooler.
Why did the vet think she was vomiting in the first place?
Sounds like it could be some sort of infection, maybe bacterial going on making her feel bad.
Yeah, I'd just get the vet to check.her.over one more time...ugh!
