Congrats on your new adoption!
Don't feel bad about having to shave him! My sister shaves her Maine Coon every Spring, and somehow I've gotten away with not shaving ours for 4 years. This Spring will be his first shave. There's something about Maine Coons in our family, they get lazy and don't groom as well in the heat. I had to tackle Saxon so many times to cut and comb mats out last Summer/Fall that I'm not dealing with it this year!
Steve, who is part Maine Coon, gets to keep her coat until she gives us a reason to shave her. I'm sure by the fall, we'll be blogging about her mats and how she deceived me into not shaving her.
I can't wait to see pictures of the new big guy!!
Right rear leg amp due to injury from unknown cause (but don't tell her she's missing her spare...yes HER!)

Franklin, he was the Happiest Dog on Three Legs! Diagnosed 09/26/2012 with Osteosarcoma, amputated 12/4/2012. Had a wonderful 5 1/2 months painfree until he ran for the Bridge on 5/15/2013. Always in my heart, and always a guardian angel of my pack... You can follow his Tripawd Adventures, before and after, in my blog, Frank'n'Farter!
