Although not really tripawd-related, we thought the Tripawd nation might enjoy a little feel-good tidbit.  The Odaroloc pack was recently featured in a little clip for the Great Big Story on CNN!  Only 2.5 mins long, but gives a good representation of what we do, and a glimpse as to why...  Click HERE to see it.

The video is great!   What a wonderful life you and the pack have.

Otis - 106 pound lab/Dane mix, lost his right front leg to osteosarcoma on Febuary 9, 2016.  Four rounds of carboplatin completed in April, 2016.  Lung mets August 25, 2016.  Said goodbye too soon on September 4, 2016.   Lost his adopted sister, Tess, suddenly on October 9, 2016. likely due to hemangiosarcoma.

Wherever they are, they are together.

Every time I watch it I am in awe of the beauty and the way the dogs work together 🙂   I don't mind seeing it multiple times superstarsuperstarsuperstarsuperstarsuperstar

My dream one day is to get to go to Alaska and watch part of a race and just take it all in.

Okay, maybe there's an Alaskan Tripawd Pawty in the making!! I'm signing up right behind Michelle!

I saw this in Rene's original post and was enthralled then and I'm even more enthralled seeing it a second time!

I have ro say, in the past I've had some mixed feelings regarding sled dogs and their treatment. Getting to knkw Calpurnia, Liam and their Odaroloc Pack AND her humans, has given me a whole 'nother perspective...a much more positive one!!

This is a "must see" video. I jave no doubt the CNN clip changed a lot of people's minds just like it did mine! Unfortunately, I'm sure not everyone cares for the well-being of their dogs like TC does, vut that stands true for all grouos of dog owners.

This was a beautiful piecea d it truly showed the joy these dogs feel when allowed to be who they were born to be! And they are sooooo loved and sooooo cared for! TC has set the standard of love and care for anyone I involved in this way of life.

Thank you so much TC, for being a shining example of how to let dogs do what they love...and humans doing what they love...while providing superb care and limitless love!

Much love ro all!

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Hey Sally-

Thanks for your comments.  And thanks for understanding that while there are some mushers that may not be doing things in the best interest of their dogs, it isn't ALL mushers.  And yes, ANY group of anything you will have a certain percentage of bad apples.  I am glad that you don't let that define what we do.  One of our good friends at Red Shed Racing once told us that her motto is "Lead by Example" and we have taken that to heart.  We are also thrilled to know (actually know, not just superficially know) so many competitive mushers that DO take good care of their dogs.

And yes, I think an Alaskan Tripawd Party would be fun!!!  There are a lot of three-legged dogs around here, and even some amazing amputee mushers!  🙂

big-grin

Like most people the only experience we ever had with mushing was through the stories and rumors about a few bad apples. It wasn't until we met Calpurnia and her pack that we GOT IT. A few bad people do not speak for the entire sport, which is more of a lifestyle like no other. I feel privileged that we've gotten to see it up close and in person, TC, Dave and their dogs have really rocked our world!
