Hi Cameron- it's good to hear from you.
If I remember correctly Wolf is a front amp from an injury and still a puppy- less than one year old.
I have a pug boy named Obie that I got from a local rescue group- and he was what I call very mouthy. He was always grabbing my hands and fingers when he played. The way I fixed that was to re-direct his attention to a nylabone, then give him lots of praise for playing with his toy instead of my hands.
What I learned in training classes is that you want to ignore behaviors you don't want, and reward the behaviors you do want. So if Wolf jumps up on you when you get home you can turn your back and ignore him until he settles down. Or you can go back out the door and come in again. As soon has he does what you want him to do, like stay on all three paws, then praise him and reward him. While I was working with Obie I kept a snack bag handy and gave him praise and treats when he would get his toy. If Wolf really likes to chase a ball you can use that as a reward. Eventually you can reduce the amount of treats and just reward with praise or games.
Can you and your parents take Wolf to an obedience class near you? Even though Obie was 4 years old when I adopted him I took him to a obedience class. We really formed a bond, and I learned a lot about dog training.
Another really important thing for Wolf, especially since he is still so young, is consistency. You have to work with him every day when you come home, and everyone has to treat him the same way. If one person lets him jump up and nip then he will think it is OK to jump on everyone.
Good luck, and let us know how the training goes.
Karen and the pugapalooza
Hi Cameron, Cadence's little brother Einstein had that issue with being mouthy. In fact he would nip and pull at my pants legs to in order to incite play and get attention. Also he would run after me jumping up and nipping at my hands. It means my pup had a high prey drive. But they should not do that to their pack leader so what we did until he outgrew it was yelp anytime his teeth touched my skin. He would immediately pull back and then started to respond with a gentler mouth. It's how they learn bite inhibition. For the jumping up I agree with Karen. No attention until he is calm and all paws on the ground.
