Have any of you used frontline Tritak before? My vet is no longer carrying frontline plus and recommended the tritak but I have read some bad reviews about it. Anyone have any experiences with it?

Chance is a 10ish Shetland Sheepdog Mix who was rescued from the shelter in January of 2013 and diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in September of 2013. He had a front left amputation and 6 rounds of carboplatin. He had a great 11 months and was diagnosed with lung mets on 8/23/14. He was released to the bridge on 8/28/14.

Great question, I'd love to hear people's experiences with it. Bravo to you for doing your research!

We have used Frontline Plus for a number of years and just used our first batch of Fiproguard Max which is a generic version. So far it seems to be working well, and the best part is it costs significantly less.

We had never used any of the flea/tick meds until we made a move further south in 2006. At that time the vet we were taking Gus to said that we should be using it. So we started it. Coincidentally, shortly after we started it, he was diagnosed with reactive hystiocytosis. His dermatologist had been studying this disease for over ten years. She said at that time that so far they had not discovered a cause for it. He was treated with doxycycline and it cleared up. He had several more bouts of it over the next few years, and they became more stubborn. This year I declined to go with the Frontline, and he has not had an outbreak. Coincidence? Possibly. But at this point I'm not going back to it. Oh, yes...the cost of the doxy skyrocketed the last time I had to order it. Where I had been paying about $35 for a month's supply, new cost had gone to over $400!

We are fortunate that we live in an area where we don't have a problem with fleas, and we have just had to be more vigilant about the ticks.

Just a "for what it's worth" comment.

Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!

UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!

Kathi that is CRAZY about the doxy, I had no idea that price gouging was happening. Ouch.

Glad you're not having flea issues. It's certainly one of the perks at living at higher altitudes in dry climates.

I live in Alabama where fleas and ticks are rampant! If you don't treat them, they WILL get infested! Plus, my dogs stay inside most of the time and I can't have fleas or ticks in my house. It's getting colder now so they won't be bad but I was still just wondering about the Frontline Tritak since I have read some very mixed reviews!
