Has anyone ever had freckles pop up on dog around incision site? Chance just had a cluster come up around his scar.

Chance is a 10ish Shetland Sheepdog Mix who was rescued from the shelter in January of 2013 and diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in September of 2013. He had a front left amputation and 6 rounds of carboplatin. He had a great 11 months and was diagnosed with lung mets on 8/23/14. He was released to the bridge on 8/28/14.

Hmmm...not here, but Chance looks like he's already predisposed to them right? I'm wondering if they're a reaction to skin being disrupted with an incision? Interesting.

Yeah I just noticed them maybe last week. Chance has alopecia on his face due to infection or possibly parasites when he was on the streets. The hair never grew back after I got him. The freckles are probably nothing. It's just strange.

No...no inpit...but I love his avatar picture though!

Could it be some sort of reaction to the hair being shaved and the skin being extra sensitive to the sun?
Or maybe a little sensitivity or reaction to anythinghe's taking?

Interesting to see if anyone else observed it in their pups.

I know that sweet Charleyis gettkng stronger and feeling better every day! Look forward to more great photos and updates!

Hugs to all!

Oh I thought they were freckles on his face. Well they sure add character!

I'd mention it to your vet next time but it's not something that would send me for a visit. That's just me though.

I went for blood work yesterday and he said it was probably either age that can cause it or stress from the incision. Nothing to worry about.
