This is the first I have heard about a blood test for canine cancer and I thought it might be of interest.  I will ask Harley's oncologist about this at his next visit.  I hope I copied link correctly

Harley is an 8 year old Golden Retriever. Amp surgery for an infiltrative lipoma canceled due to two masses in chest. A rescue, he found his forever home on 3/18/07 and left for his eternal home on 1/09/13. His story and medical history are at http://myharley.....pawds.com/

Thanks for sharing! It's always great to let others know about these sort of things. We've written about a few different blood tests for canine cancer in the Tripawds News blog over the years:

I would love to get an oncologist's opinion on this newest test because there has not been much success with prior blood tests (too many false positives).

Ditto Pam, that's why we didn't get too excited about it. I will run this by Dr. Avenelle Turner, one of the last oncos we interviewed on Tripawd Talk Radio

I just received this information from the company:

*Q: What is the accuracy of this test?* A: The accuracy of any diagnostic test is typically expressed by its /sensitivity/and /specificity./ Sensitivity is the proportion of patients that truly have the disease, that result in a 'positive' test value (values beyond limits of normal). Specificity is the proportion of patients without the disease that results in a 'negative' test value (values within the range of normal). Together, sensitivity and specificity indicate a tests ability to correctly categorize patients with and without disease. By this measure, *VDI-TKcanine+* is a very accurate test, with a sensitivity of *96%* and a specificity of *85%* when the result falls into the category of 'Positive'. Should the test result fall into the category of 'High Positive', the specificity rises to *99%.*
