We were at the vet with Sophie and Dr. Williams told us about a new shot for heart worm prevention that lasts six months. It's much more economical and you don't have to worry about forgetting to dose each month. Anyone using it or hear any pros / cons?

Great question Patricia, I'd be curious to hear more too. Thanks for posting this.

That shot was available previously but was taken off of the market because some dogs had allergic reactions and a few other issues.  It underwent an FDA review and came back on the market but pet owners had to sign a release form.  It may be safe but I have not used it since we do not have much heartworm disease here in the Pacific Northwest.

Thanks Jerry and Pam. Sounds a little scary. I did read on the literature I got that you have to sign a waiver. That makes me nervous. Must have been some pretty bad allergic reactions!
