Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.

Yes Carmen, I would suggest a 3/1 Anti Monkeybutt training program beginning now! Increase your intensity during weeks 1,2, and 3 and taper on weeks 4. Increase your intensity during each subsequent month. The week prior to your 1/2 should be a taper week. The day of the race, load up on the Anti Monkeybutt Powder baby and run!!!

I don't run fast enough actually to worry about chaffing
I'm going to work on my husband to run it too. If nothing else, he can maybe do the Santa Shuffle on the Saturday before the half (at least it was in 2009 when I was there).

Aw, Maddie, don't cry. Fairbanks is only 1,189 miles further to Las Vegas than Edmonton is. Maybe you could get a good deal on a flight. 
It does suck to live so far away from everybody, I know.
