So... I disappeared for a while, what with having the 75 lb 3-legged Labrador in a Help 'Em Up Harness rehabbing from CCL replacement surgery in his single back leg in the middle of a Manhattan high rise and all ....
Plus the histiocytoma (benign) we discovered on his ear 3 weeks after CCL surgery, that originally came back as "inconclusive" and possible a mast cell tumor.
The good news: No mast cell, no cancer, no health issues, no Help Em Up Harness. Ajax is back up and rockin' and rollin all over the place. There is still an endurance issues, as he is almost 12 and had some muscle atrophy from not using the back leg for a few months (bad parents took too long to realize it). But what with his weekly spa day - I mean PT -- where he gets massage, jacuzzi and swimming and walking on the underwater treadmill, he is improving really quickly. We have to get him to full speed before it's August and too hot to move!
Just wanted to let everyone know some cheerful news! (I decided not to drag you all through the histiocytoma/maybe mast cell week, as you can imagine I was crazy). We are almost 4 years post-amp and still going strong. Loving having our "real" pup back - he didn't show a lot of pain, but was definitely subdued. His star power has now returned, however. We celebrate 4 year ampuversary July 19 (I think?) and 12th bday July 25th
Thanks to all of you who have supported us over the years! I will send admin a photo /video of PT. Some genius decided to put peanut butter on the glass wall so he'd walk faster, and now they wonder why they can't get him to do anything except run straight to the underwater treadmill the minute he arrives ...

Kathleen, you can come here anytime, especially if you're worried or whatever, we are here through good times and bad. I'm just so glad to hear he's well. What a miracle doggie you have there. Must be all the spaw visits!

YEAH AJAX!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everytime I'm in Central Park I look for a cancer free dawg with three legs but to no avail!!!!! ONE DAY hopefully I'll run into you!!!!!
Jill is a 9-year-old tuxedo kitty. She was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in June 2012 on her toe in her right hind leg. Her leg was amputated on 12/12/12 and she completed four rounds of chemo (2 of Carbo, 2 of Doxy) in April 2013. Would LOVE to see you rocking at your 'spa days' treatments!!! I have been doing underwater treadmill and cold laser treatments with Haley since December. She doesn't 'do' the peanut butter trick though....she'd rather me hand her occasional treats - LOL!

ps why didn't anyone tell me he was going to become a tyrant? was it the post-surgery coddling or just age? we are enslaved to our Labrador!
