As we pause today to remember the victims of 9-11 let us also think about the 400 Search and Rescue dogs (and handlers) that worked tirelessly during the weeks that followed.

Trivia: It was the largest  deployment of SARs dogs in US History

Daisy earned her wings on Oct 22, 2011 at 14 years old

She is now the official greeter at the rainbow bridge

While we cannot be a search and rescuue dog, Ajax started his first class with the Good Dog Foundation in NYC last Sunday.  (He tried to flee, but that's a whole other story).  In addition to their "therapy dog" programs at hospitals, etc., GDF sent dogs to do "therapy" work with 9/11 survivors and families of 9/11 victims and responders, and following the success of that program also did some Katrina related work.  So it seems appropriate to mention in this post.

Oh he is going to be GREAT at it! That's so cool.

Now, do tell about that fleeing episode in another topic, k?
