I've not been in a place that I can be Nixon's typist and update his blog but we're so happy I have to share! Yesterday, we reached 16 months post amp. A week from today, Nixon will turn 11. A year ago, we were told that the chance of Nixon living more than 8 months post amp was low. The chances of seeing his 11th birthday was maybe 1 in 5. I made a pysanky egg to celebrate.
We're off to the vet to have cupcakes and smooches. We'll have pictures later. Weather permitting, we'll be celebrating with friends at Panera on Sunday.
That is SO wonderful to hear!!! How inspirational to others that those odds we are given are not what the future will hold.

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
Such great news !! Nixon, you are a handsome hunk of Greyhound, and I do hope you have many more happy celebrations !! As Sally says, time for big celebrations with all the good stuff.....cake, steak, and ice cream !!

After Nixon's chiropractic adjustment, he ran over to the cookie jar before Dr. Huff even offered him a cookie. They were out of Nixon's favorite treats and Dr. Huff just had a plain dry biscuit to offer. Nixon just looked at him and refused to take it. Dr. Huff had to send someone out to go get Nixon's favorite treats.
Then to celebrate, we went to Hardees for a cheese burger, plain and hold the bun. My husband told me that Nixon can't tell the difference between a quality burger and McDonald's. Nixon disagreed. There was lots of enthusiasm for this burger and it was gone in two bites.
The staff loved their cupcakes too.
Nixon just loves, loves that crown! Looks like I'll have to get him one from party city.
